Service bulletins for the 2022 Ford Expedition
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SSM 54392 | 2025-12-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE; POWER TRAIN. Some 2021-2025 F-150/Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0299 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) and may also exhibit a rattle noise from the turbocharger. This may be due to the wastegate actuator rod being disconnected. Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-04 Fuel Charging and Controls > Turbocharger has been added to address this condition to allow servicing of the turbocharger actuator rod. In addition, the wastegate actuator rod and associated retention springs and clips have been released as lower level components to complete the repair without replacing the entire turbocharger actuator assembly. |

| SSM 53973 | 2025-07-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE. Some 2021-2024 Edge/Nautilus, 2021-2025 Bronco/Bronco Sport/E-Series/Escape/Corsair/Expedition/Navigator/Explorer/Aviator/F-150/F-Super Duty/Mustang/Ranger, and 2022-2025 Maverick vehicles may require an A/C compressor clutch assembly replacement be performed for various concerns. Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00 Removal and Installation has been updated to eliminate the need to remove and install the A/C compressor to change out the A/C Compressor clutch assembly. |
| SSM 53764 | 2025-05-21. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE. Some 2020 Continental, 2020-2024 Edge/Nautilus, 2020-2025 Explorer/Aviator/Escape/Corsair/F-150/F-Super Duty/Ranger/Transit/E-Series, 2021-2025 Bronco, and 2022-2025 Maverick vehicles may require an engine cooling system flush to be performed for various concerns. Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03 has been updated to eliminate the need to remove and install the radiator assembly to perform a radiator flush. |
| SSM 52335 | 2024-03-20. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. For 2015-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines and customer concern of an engine oil leak, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 for oil leak inspection and testing methods. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed. |
| 22U08 | 2023-07-07. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Certain 2022 Model Year 3.5L GTDI Equipped Expedition, F-150 and Navigator Vehicles Heavy Grey/Blue Smoke and/or Oil from Exhaust Tailpipe(s) |
| SSM 51172 | 2022-11-29. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit reduced or intermittent power steering assist levels at engine start up and vehicle not moving or Steering Assist Fault Service Required message in instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U2016:47 present in the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM). This may be due to PSCM software. To correct the condition, reprogram the PSCM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). For claiming, use causal part 3504 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 50835 | 2022-06-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles built on or before 08-Mar-2022 and some 2021-2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or before 14-Mar-2022 equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may experience a coolant leak at the thermostat housing. This may be due to an incomplete weld on the thermostat housing which can leak during normal vehicle operation. To correct the condition, replace the thermostat housing using service part number ML3Z-8A586-C. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03. For claiming, use causal part 8A586 and applicable labor operations in Section 08 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| 22U08 | 2022-06-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Certain 2022 Model Year 3.5L GTDI Equipped Expedition, F-150 and Navigator Vehicles Heavy Grey/Blue Smoke and/or Oil from Exhaust Tailpipe(s). In some of the affected vehicles, it’s possible the left-hand turbo oil drain hole was incompletely drilled during the engine block machining process. A vehicle built with an engine block that has an incomplete turbo oil drain hole may experience heavy gray/blue smoke with oil from the exhaust tailpipe(s), which could lead to a malfunction indicator light on the instrument panel cluster. |
| TSB 22-2089 | 2022-03-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some 2015-2022 F-150, 2017-2022 F-Super Duty and 2018-2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit poor air conditioning (A/C) performance, loss of airflow and/or engine cooling fans running continuously from high A/C pressures. This concern may be from the evaporator freezing up due to the evaporator temperature sensor being biased. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the evaporator temperature sensor. |
