This Preliminary information communicates customers may comment on poor remote keyless entry (RKE) range (less than 20 feet.) Some customers may comment that the RKE fob must be held next to the driver door handle before the doors will unlock when passively attempting to unlock the door. The Radio Antenna Amplifier may be causing the range issue.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have the alarm sounding when learning new key fobs after the original key fobs were lost. Technician will open the driver's door and allow the Content Theft Deterrent alarm to activate, which will pulse the horns and exterior lamps for approximately 30 seconds and the alarm will shut off at this time. As long as the driver's door remains open the alarm will not turn back on and the new transmitters can be programmed.
