This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have Service Engine Soon on, a “Service Transmission Now, Unable to Shift Soon” message or possibly the vehicle will not shift out of park at times. Technician will find Diagnostic Trouble Code P07BE or P17F3 in the Chassis Control Module. Technician will need to update the Chassis Control Module with the latest software available in Tis-2-Web. If the vehicle returns or the vehicle was built after the build date shown technician is directed to test for terminal concerns and is advised that an updated shift lever knob is now available.

17415 (Bulletin2018-05-07. Service bulletin. STEERING; POWER TRAIN. 17415-Service Update. Certain vehicles may have a condition in which the inner front-of-dash seal for the steering shaft may not be properly installed. If this condition is present water could accumulate inside the lower steering boot and, over time, cause corrosion of the intermediate and pinion steering shafts. This corrosion could damage the pinion seal, allowing water to reach the torque sensor. Dealers will inspect the inner intermediate steering shaft boot, and replace if necessary.

On certain vehicles with an 8-speed transmission (MRC), under certain downhill driving conditions, these vehicles may inappropriately remain in a mode of delayed upshifts that can only be exited on an ignition key cycle or gear selector shift to neutral. Dealers are to reprogram the transmission control module.

This Preliminary Information communication advises the technician that some customers may comment on the operation of their haptic seat during a Lane Keep Assist event. Lane Keep Assist works differently than Lane Departure Warning. The Lane Keep Assist icon is solid amber, Forward Camera Module is actively commanding a torque to Electronic Power Steering. This means that the driver should also feel some feedback from the steering wheel. No Chimes or haptic in the seat. Lane Keep Assist icon is flashing amber; Forward Camera Module is actively commanding torque to Electronic Power Steering. This will also be accompanied with Lane Departure Warning chimes and haptic in the seat feedback based on the setting chosen in the vehicle settings. This will take place when the vehicle has crossed lane marking by (40 cm) or (15.75 in).
