Service bulletins for the 2019 BMW X5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

482 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

Bulletins, newest first
B1606232024-01-03. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Engine will crank but not start. There is no communication with the integrated fuel module (TFE) whendiagnosing with ISTA. The following two fault codes will be stored in the DME: 032B43 - Low fuel pressure system, electric fuel pump: pressure value too low CDA594 - Message (- 0x33E) missing, receiver DME, transmitter TFE
B1601232023-07-24. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. A vehicle arrives at your center to be diagnosed for a micro-leak in the fuel evaporative (EVAP) system (NVLD natural vacuum leak detection). For this condition, the following fault is stored in the DME: 190302 - fuel tank ventilation and scavenging air system, micro-leak: leakage more than 0.5 mm.
SIB1702202022-10-17. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; SERVICE BRAKES; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Symptom 1: There are traces of coolant leaking under the vehicle, or there is significant pressure released along with coolant loss when opening the low temperature cooling system reservoir (engine cold). The following fault code may also be stored in the DME: 20A201 - Charge air cooling system: Coolant pump protective function activated due to dry running Symptom 2*: The air conditioning may have low cooling output with the following fault stored in the IHKA: 80120A - Compressor: Shut down due to overpressure in refrigerant system. Symptom 2 is an additional symptom related to Symptom 1. Diagnose the IHKA fault with ISTA test plans if it is the only fault stored (if no DME faults are stored related to coolant loss, this bulletin repair does not apply).
SIB1602222022-08-22. Service bulletin. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM. The fuel gauge may indicate the incorrect fuel level (full and reserve).
B1603212022-06-21. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:PNEUMATIC:DELIVERY:PIPES, HOSES, AND FITTINGS. A fuel leak may develop from the fuel tank.
B1105212022-05-31. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The belt pulley on the mechanical coolant pump may fracture allowing the engine drive belt to come off the coolant pump and alternator.
B1601222022-05-16. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS:HOSES/VALVES/SENSORS; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. During manufacturing, the evaporative lines for the EVAP system may have been routed incorrectly. This could result in a Service Engine Soon (MIL) lamp turning on.
B1105212022-02-22. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. The belt pulley on the mechanical coolant pump may fracture allowing the engine drive belt to come off the coolant pump and alternator.
SIB1602212021-12-13. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:FUEL FILTER; FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS. The hose clamp connecting the fuel filler pipe to the fuel tank may have been positioned incorrectly. Furthermore, owing to its larger outer diameter, the filler pipe installed in the vehicle cannot be positioned up to the end position in the connecting hose.
B5127202020-12-21. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP; STRUCTURE:BODY. FUEL FILLER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN: The fuel filler door (aka flap) will not open. In rare cases, if the vehicle is locked using the remote control key and the fuel filler door is pushed closed simultaneously, the fuel door can enter a locked state that cannot be unlocked.
B1703202020-06-15. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; LANE DEPARTURE; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. COOLANT LINE QUICK DISCONNECTS LEAK IN LOW TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW -15Ë?C (5Ë?F): The coolant reservoir in the high or low temperature cooling system is low There may be a coolant leak under the vehicle There may be a check control message (ID166) to top up coolant The low temperature cooling system have a low level warning indicator. One or more faults may be stored related to the low temp cooling system: DME - 20A201 - charge air cooling system: Coolant pump protective function due to dry running active DME - 20A209 - charge air cooling system: Coolant pump protective function due to dry running active IHKA - 80120A - Compressor: Switch off due to excess pressure in the refrigerant circuit The outside temperature at the time of the complaint is at or below -15Ë? C (5Ë? F) The O-rings that seal the quick disconnect coolant lines will not seal properly when outside temperatures are at or below -15Ë? C (5Ë? F).
B1706172020-04-20. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. COOLANT LEAK FROM LOW TEMPERATURE COOLING CIRCUIT (N63R): This Service Information Bulletin (Revision 5) replaces SI B17 06 17 dated June 2019. Traces of coolant leaking from the expansion tank of the low temperature cooling system. Coolant in the low temperature cooling circuit may also have an acrid smell and discoloration (1). Aluminum corrosion in the charge air intercoolers or in the radiator for the low temperature cooling is causing an unfavorable chemical reaction to the coolant.
B6208192019-08-19. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. CC MESSAGE THAT FUEL TANK IS EMPTY AND RANGE IS ZERO WHILE THERE IS STILL FUEL: The customer states that sporadically the vehicle's remaining drive range is displayed as 0 miles even though the fuel level indicator (aka gas gauge) still indicates that there is sufficient fuel in the tank. There is also a Check Control message (CCM ID 286) displayed: "range 0. Please refuel" After the vehicle goes to sleep and restarts. The display functions normally. The correct remaining range is displayed Software error in the instrument cluster.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
