| 13V617000 | 2013-12-12. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP. BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2005-2011 model year R-model motorcycles, model year 2005-2012 K-model motorcycles, model year 2010-2011 S 1000 model motorcycles, and model year 2006-2010 HP2 motorcycles. In the affected motorcycles, the fuel pump flange (and the auxiliary fuel pump flange if equipped) could develop cracks and leak fuel. Built 2008-09-11 to 2011-03-31. |
| 10V488000 | 2010-10-08. SUSPENSION:REAR. BMW IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2011 MOTORCYCLES. THE BEARINGS COULD BE SUBJECT TO CORROSION. THIS COULD LEAD TO REDUCED MOVEMENT OF THE LINK LEVER. Built 2008-09-01 to 2010-09-30. |
| 09V471000 | 2009-12-10. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. BMW IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009 AND 2010 K1300 S AND K1300 GT MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 11, 2008 AND NOVEMBER 19, 2009. POOR FUEL QUALITY MAY LEAD TO SMALL DEPOSITS WITHIN THE THROTTLE BODIES. DURING ENGINE OPERATION IN A LOW RPM RANGE, TYPICALLY NEAR IDLE SPEED (WHEN COMING TO A STOP) AIR FLOW COULD BE SUFFICIENTLY RESTRICTED AND ENGINE STALLING COULD OCCUR. Built 2008-09-11 to 2009-10-13. |
| 09V384000 | 2009-09-29. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH. BMW IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009 MOTORCYCLES. THE SWITCHES ON THE HANDLEBARS FOR BOTH THE DIRECTION INDICATOR AND THE EMERGENCY ENGINE OFF/ENGINE-START FUNCTIONS MAY FAIL. Built 2008-10-01 to 2009-05-31. |
| 09V202000 | 2009-06-08. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. BMW IS RECALLING 1,297 MODEL YEAR 2009 K1300 S AND K1300 GT MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN OCTOBER 1, 2008 AND MAY 1, 2009. | 2020437 | 2020-09-16. Fuel System. Issue: On certain motorcycles, the fuel pump flange could crack. If this happens, fuel could leak while the engine is running. Note: This recall only affects motorcycles that did not have the fuel pump replaced under Transport Canada recall 2013-442. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the fuel pump and auxiliary fuel pump (if equipped) with an improved version. |
|---|---|
| 2017428 | 2017-09-01. Lights And Instruments. Certain motorcycles with dealer installed accessory turn signals may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CVMSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard. |
| 2015101 | 2015-03-11. Powertrain. On certain motorcycles, the threaded holes on the rear wheel flange could crack if the wheel bolts are tightened beyond the specified torque limit during servicing. Over time, this could allow the bolts to back out of their threaded holes, causing the rear wheel to become loose. This could result in a loss of stability of the motorcycle, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the aluminum rear wheel flange with a steel flange. |
| 2014485 | 2014-10-30. Tires. On certain motorcycles equipped with a Continental ContiSportAttack or ContiSportAttack2 front tire, a separation may develop between the thread, belt and carcass. This could potentially result in rapid air loss and/or tire failure, which could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace affected tires. |
| 2013442 | 2013-12-13. Fuel System. On certain motorcycles, cracks could develop in the fuel pump and/or auxiliary fuel pump flange (if equipped). This would result in fuel leaking when the engine is turned on and the fuel system is pressurized. Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the fuel pump flange(s) and install a reinforcing ring or replace the fuel pump(s), as necessary. |
| 2010395 | 2010-11-03. Suspension. On certain motorcycles, due to environmental conditions, the bearings of the link lever attached to the rear strut could be subject to corrosion. This could lead to reduced movement of the link lever. Over time, if the corrosion became significant, restriction of movement of the link lever could occur. This could affect handling of the motorcycle. In an extreme case, this could result in the connecting rod breaking by a bending force, causing the rear wheel to decelerate by contact with the inner fender. This could lead to a crash depending on traffic, road conditions and rider's reactions. Correction: Dealers will replace the rear suspension relay lever. |
| 2010066 | 2010-03-04. Electrical. On certain motorcycles, the switches on the handlebars for both the direction indicator and the emergency engine-off-start functions may fail. If this happens, the directional indicator and/or the emergency engine-off-start functions may not work properly. Improper function of the direction indicators or sudden engine stalling may create the risk of a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the handlebar switches. |
| 2009203 | 2009-07-08. Brakes. On certain motorcycles, vibration, particularly on a long ride at constant high engine rpm and on engine overrun at high rpm, can, under certain circumstances, cause foaming of the brake fluid in the reservoir of the front brakes. This foaming may cause air to enter into the brake system, which can severely diminish the braking efficiency of the front brakes. Extended stopping distances may result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install a screen insert into the front brake fluid reservoir. |
A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
