Service bulletins for the 2012 BMW 328i

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

2404132018-11-13. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. GM6 - 6L45R: Diagnostic Procedure for Shudder or Vibration Issues. A shudder or vibration can be felt under light acceleration or when driving at constant suburban speeds. This can be most noticeable in the 1700 - 2200 engine rpm range while in 3rd through 6th gears. No faults are stored in the EGS module. CAUSE Changes in the frictional properties of the automatic transmission fluid over time can lead to momentary slipping of the torque convertor lock-up clutch.
B1126152018-11-13. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE. Delivery Stop: B58 Engine - Check Crankshaft Bearing Shells.A Delivery Stop has been issued on F30 and F32 certain vehicles produced from July 2015 (start of production) to December 2, 2015. These vehicles may have upper guide bearing shells that may exhibit wear at low mileage. There are 45 vehicles affected by this stop. For your convenience, attached you will find the list of affected VINs. This bulletin will be updated with repair instructions and warranty information when it becomes available. Affected vehicles can be identified with a ?Vehicle Comment? in DCS Warranty Vehicle Inquiry or ISPA Light with a specific description.

A metallic grinding or cracking noise is heard from the rear of the vehicle when selecting Drive or Reverse. There may also be a Check Control message ""Drive Disturbed"" displayed. CAUSE The inner and/or outer universal joint on the right and/or left rear output shaft has failed."
B2402152018-11-13. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. 8HP: Transmission Fluid Loss from Cooler Lines Connections. There is a transmission fluid leak in the area around the oil cooler lines (on the transmission side). CAUSE Damaged o-rings due to unfavorable cooling line connection tolerances
1201152018-11-13. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. SUBJECT N20 and N26 Differential Pressure Sensor Fault 195002 Stored in DME. The Service Engine Soon (MIL) light is on with the following differential pressure sensor fault stored: z 195002 - Differential pressure sensor, tank vent valve, electrical: Short circuit to ground During engine operation, vibration and movement of the sensor can damage the pin contacts of the harness connector, or cause a break in the wiring.
B2704152018-11-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE; WHEELS. Shudder from the Driveline on Vehicles with xDrive. There is a shudder or vibration from the driveline when taking off from a stop, or when accelerating at highway speeds. CAUSE Possible multiple root causes related to the engine, wheels & tires, suspension components or internal wear on the clutch plates of the xDrive transfer case.
B3408142018-11-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY; WHEELS:HUB; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC. Ticking Noise from Front Axle When Cornering. The customer may complain of a ticking noise from the front axle when cornering, maneuvering, parking or pulling away from a parking space. A rattling or knocking noise is heard in the area of the gear selector switch (GWS) during engine load reversal. CAUSE The vent tube for the transfer case is making contact with the transmission tunnel.
6103142018-11-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Check Control Messages Related to Battery Charge During Cold Ambient Temperatures. On cold days with an outside ambient temperature of less than 15°F, customers may notice a check control message related to the battery that is displayed on the instrument cluster and the control information display. Under these conditions, the vehicle starts. Various power management faults can be stored. When the outside temperatures drop below 46°F, the charging system is switch to full charge. CAUSE ? The check control message (ID 229) is caused by a heavily discharged battery. ? The check control message is triggered when the current state of charge (SoC) of the battery approaches the minimum SoC that is required to start the vehicle (start capability limit). ? In low outside ambient temperatures, the start capability limit of the vehicle is higher. Therefore it takes more energy from the battery to start a cold engine. ? Without the early warning of the check control message, the current state of charge would drop below the start capability limit and the vehicle would not start. ? The vehicle's intelligent power management system actively takes measures to increase the charge of the battery, such as increasing idle speed and reducing or shutting down certain electrical consumers.
B2402152018-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN.
