Service bulletins for the 2013 Audi S6
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| Update Bulletin | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. This Update has been proactively released to adjust the vehicle departure deactivation and the electromechanical parking brake. Engine and ignition will no longer shut off when exiting the vehicle. If the engine is off (due to Start-Stop) when the door is opened, the ignition will shut off to prevent battery drain. The parking brake will not activate when the ignition is switched off. (A6/A7/S6 Only) This Update is in effect until removed. Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 97Y7 code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair. Vehicle must be in New Vehicle Inventory. Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin. Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale. Enhancements based on consumer feedback. |
| A911263 2021151- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11 ? 83 dated April 15, 2011. The customer may report that the illumination of the dash insert, the air conditioning control panel or the inside light flickers when briefly pressing the accelerator in P or N or when shifting down while driving downhill. Only vehicles with PR number 8GH may be affected. When high electricity consumers are switched off and the battery is fully charged, the energy generated by the alternator is sometimes too great for the power system to absorb. This may lead to briefly increased voltage, and the lights mentioned above may briefly flicker. This characteristic is caused by the alternator design and is a normal condition of the vehicle. |
| A901238 2032113- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. The customer may state that the outside ambient temperature display is incorrect. To achieve a smoothening effect of the displayed outside ambient temperature, the value shown does not instantaneously follow the temperature sensor measurement. The display will not change faster than 4° F (2° C) per minute. This concept applies to both falling and rising temperatures. A programming strategy is also implemented to avoid incorrect readings on a parked vehicle, due to the temperature sensor being affected by outside influences such as radiant heat from the engine bay, elevated road surface temperatures, etc. |
| A001466 2037949- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. A DTC with the description ?Invalid Data Record? is stored after an ECU has been replaced or updated. This DTC is normal. It indicates that the parameter data has not been properly programmed into the ECU by SVM. |
| A001465 2011732- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 00 number 12-32 dated February 7, 2012. This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) details the general process for carrying out a Software Version Management (SVM) software update for any TSB or Update. |
| A641433 2029714- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 64 number 12-22 dated July 5, 2012. After one or both of the front door control units (J386/J387) is replaced, one or both of the rear door control units (J3888/J389) cannot be coded or parameterized via an SVM specified vs. actual comparison (spec/actual). The parameter data in the software coding container has changed for the front and rear door control units. As a result, an SVM code is required to update the parameter data for any replacement control unit. Simply running an SVM spec/actual will not code nor update the parameter data in the new replacement control unit. A hardware change suggestion will be provided when an SVM spec/actual is executed. An additional hardware replacement is not required. |
| A911437 2030947- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-92 dated July 16, 2013. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone receives the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call because it assumes that the phone is not responding. |
| A271423 2036392- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 27 number 14-22 dated April 21, 2014. Vibrations are felt at 1000 rpm and 3000 rpm. DTCs may be stored in the subframe mount control module. The basic settings of the active engine mounts in the subframe mount control module, J931, are deactivated when work is done on either of the vehicle electrical system control modules. As a result, the vehicle vibrates or judders when cylinders are actively switched off. |

As a result, the vehicle vibrates or judders when cylinders are actively switched off. |
| A171449 2028440- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 12-26 dated January 20, 2012. When the vehicle is completely refueled, the vehicle range (?distance to empty?) that is displayed is different than the vehicle range that was displayed the last time the vehicle was completely refueled. The displayed vehicle range drops inconsistently. After the vehicle is refueled, the displayed vehicle range does not change for a long period of time. When the vehicle is driven on hilly roads for a long period of time, the displayed vehicle range suddenly changes by a significant amount. There are no DTCs related to fuel senders stored in the instrument cluster control module, J285 (address word 17). This condition does not involve or affect the accuracy of the fuel level indicator, but only the estimated distance to empty display on the on-board computer. |
| A941432 2017806- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BACK UP LIGHTS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 13-19 dated May 23, 2013. The light bulb warning light is displayed in the instrument cluster with the ?Vehicle lights: malfunction? message. DTCs are stored in the vehicle electrical system control module. Exterior lights are functioning properly. If the headlight switch is moved to an intermediate position and remains there, the light bulb warning light and the error message appear after approximately ten seconds. Once displayed, the message turns off after approximately five seconds. The light bulb warning light turns off only after the headlight switch is turned to a defined position, and the status of DTC 03280 or DTC 01800 are changed to sporadic. After 40 driving cycles without an implausible signal detected, the DTCs are automatically cleared. |
| A911419 2026895- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-16 dated October 5, 2011. During a Bluetooth call, the sound is difficult to hear for the other party. Voice recognition accuracy is poor. This TSB provides guidelines for testing microphones in a vehicle. |
| A171448 2036194- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The dashboard lights and controls may briefly flicker under hard acceleration after downshifting or when the engine is revved while the vehicle is stationary. The issue does not occur during normal driving, and all instrumentation continues to operate correctly. During periods of low electrical load (and especially when the battery is fully charged), the energy spike generated by the alternator due to the rapid increase in engine speed cannot be completely absorbed by the vehicle electrical system. This leads to a voltage increase that can cause some modules to initiate overvoltage protection. The condition is very brief and is considered normal. |

| A911579 2038824- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-69 dated November 4, 2014. The following message appears on the MMI display: "Device or cable type not supported". The AMI cable being used is a genuine Audi-branded cable with an Audi part number (see Required Parts and Tools for a list of valid part numbers). The "Device or cable type not supported" message may be displayed when an incorrect AMI cable type is connected to the MMI system. Only cables with an Audi part number (i.e., 4F0.XXX.XXX) are supported by the MMI system. Volkswagen-branded cables look similar, but are not guaranteed to work with Audi MMI systems. The label on the end of an Audi-branded cable has an Audi logo and Audi part number. Audi-branded cables have unique firmware inside the hardware that can determine which MMI system and iOS device are connected to the cable. Volkswagen cables do not have this firmware. The firmware is required to allow the system to function normally due to the different technology available in the different MMI systems and in the different iPhones and iPod Touch devices. In addition, the AMI system was designed to play the music stored locally on the connected device only. Music streaming (from Spotify or Pandora, for example) is not supported, and music stored in the cloud (on Google Play, Amazon Prime, or iTunes Match/iCloud, for example) may drop out, pause, and skip when played. |
The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
