Service bulletins for the 2010 Audi R8
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A871447 2010146- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 12-27 dated April 24, 2012. There is an unpleasant, musty odor coming from the heating and ventilation system. The odor usually occurs when the vehicle has been sitting unused for five hours or more. The odor usually occurs within 20 to 60 seconds after the vehicle is started. Condensation, which is a normal condition in all A/C systems, can cause a musty odor. If the odor is noticeable in the vehicle when the engine is not turned on, the cause may be mold and mildew in the passenger compartment, and not be related to the A/C system. All other possible sources of the odor must be investigated before this bulletin can be performed. |
| A001459 2029737- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 00 number 12-34 dated June 6, 2012. The process of draining oil through the drain plug is not always tidy. When oil is drained through the drain plug, the oil might spill on components around the oil pan area. If it is not properly cleaned up, this spilled oil could drip after the procedure is complete, causing unnecessary customer complaints. |
| A011391 2029233- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 24 number 12-27 dated April 23, 2012. MIL is illuminated. Irregular engine performance. R8 Intake Air Hose leaking. |
| A001349 2033576- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Although the correct amount of oil was added to the engine during an oil change service, a check of the oil level shows that the oil level is not okay. When an unapproved aftermarket speed-filling device is used to add oil to the engine, the increased oil flow rate may force oil into the intake manifold or combustion chamber, creating the potential for engine damage. |
| Accessories Oper | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. This is an advance notice for Audi of America employees. This notice contains information for the accessories operations technical bulletin. |

| A901451 2021151- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-63 dated October 4, 2012. The customer may report flickering of the dash insert lighting, of the A/C control panel lighting, or of the inside light. The condition occurs when the accelerator is pressed while the vehicle is in P or N, or when the vehicle is shifted down when moving downhill. Only vehicles with PR number 8GH may be affected. When high electricity consumers are switched off when the battery is fully charged, the energy generated by the alternator is sometimes too great for the power system to absorb. This may lead to briefly-increased voltage, causing the lights to flicker. |
| A441456 2022563- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 14-50 dated May 14, 2014. Customer feels vibration in the seat, vehicle floor, footwell, pedals, or steering wheel. This condition does not lead to any handling concerns or loss of vehicle control. Customer feels the vibration while driving at highway speeds from 55 ? 80 mph (88 ? 128 km/h). This bulletin is not applicable if this vehicle has a Repair Authorization on this topic. If an applicable Repair Authorization is not followed, the claim will not be paid. |
| A001470 2039206- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. High quality media files (video and sound) are now integrated into technical service bulletins on a case-by-case basis. Media files can now be viewed on any smartphone or tablet. Audi of America has started to host its TSB videos outside of ElsaPro. Doing so provides higher-quality videos, more reliable access to the videos, and the ability to view the videos on different devices. |
| A701440 2039016- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. The customer hears creaking noises from the instrument panel, particularly over rough roads. These noises may be caused by contact between the instrument panel carrier and an adjustment cam used in the assembly process in production. |
| A911469 2038824- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY:CABLES. The following message appears on the MMI display: ?Device or cable type not supported?. The ?Device or cable type not supported? message may be displayed when the wrong AMI cable type is used. See the Service section of this bulletin for an overview of the AMI cables that support iOS devices. |
| A191453 2039018- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. A small amount of dry or crusted coolant is seen on the coolant pump housing. The coolant level warning is not on. A minor coolant leak is possible during the break-in phase of the coolant seal on the coolant pump. The dry coolant marks are normal. |
| A171453 2038129- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 14-50 dated August 15, 2014. A check with the engine oil service dipstick T40178 is necessary, but the adjustment values for the dipstick are not available in the Elsa repair manual. Because of a system change, the adjustment values for the service dipstick T40178 were removed from the repair manual. |
| A011491 2028842- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Customer vehicle is fitted with unauthorized ECM tuning. All systems on Audi vehicles are engineered to work together using the factory calibrations, which have been extensively tested and validated before the vehicle is released for sale. The Audi warranty coverage is based on the results of developing the vehicle under the factory calibration. If a vehicle is equipped with unauthorized hardware or software tuning, it can cause stress on vehicle components outside of intended design limits, and can cause damage and additional wear. Subsequently, factory powertrain warranty coverage is reduced or voided. |
| A641436 2020552- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD. Windshield is streaked, has a snakeskin appearance, or its surface feels rough. Residue from industrial fallout as well as normal road dirt and grime may accumulate on windshield. |
| A661440 2038403- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. After the engine is started, the spoiler moves out and cannot be returned until the next ignition cycle. No DTCs are logged. The spoiler extends during a low voltage condition after engine start. The low voltage detection threshold was set too high in the vehicle electrical system control module, J519 (diagnostic address 09). |
| A921409 2038151- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 92 number 14-08 dated August 19, 2014. The washer solvent level warning is on in the DIS, but the washer solvent level is correct. There is no functional restriction in the windshield washer system. The sensitivity of the washer solvent level sensor (G33) can be affected by the type, concentration, and the presence of additives in the washer solvent currently in the tank. The operation of the level sensor relies on the composition of the solvent to provide an accurate message on the solvent level. Incorrect concentration and the presence of additives can contaminate the sensor and reduce its sensitivity. |
| A911462 2038296- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM). The audio CD or navigation DVD cannot be ejected from the RNS-E optical disc slot behind the navigation screen. The adaptation for enabling the eject button was either not performed at PDI or was not performed correctly (with a bus sleep immediately following the adaptation change). If ODIS OBD self-diagnosis was used, then it's possible a value of "1" was used, or if using the GFF test plan, the "CD/DVD Ejecting" option was incorrectly chosen. Setting the adaption to "1" or choosing the "CD/DVD Ejecting" option, is a one-time eject option that allows the ODIS tester to only eject the CD/DVD. This option does not permanently change the adaptation value and as a result the eject button remains disabled. |
| A911463 2028190- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-08 dated September 20, 2013. The customer would like to add a different navigation map database for countries outside of the USA or Canada. The customer would like to change the MMI system language to a different language that is not already supported by MMI. When a song is being played and the track information for that song contains foreign language characters, the driver information system (DIS) in the cluster correctly displays the characters, but the MMI display does not. |
