Service bulletins for the 2014 Audi A5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A911588 2026390- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. When a phonebook with a large number of contacts is being downloaded, the MMI screen freezes Briefly after the initial Bluetooth connection (shortly after the phone is bonded to the vehicle), after the ignition is switched on (shortly after the phone automatically reconnects with the vehicle), and after the phonebook has downloaded. When the voice recognition system is used, a message appears in the MMI screen stating that the phone book is too large and that the voice recognition system cannot be used. When music is streamed to the MMI system with the Bluetooth A2DP connection, the music intermittently pauses or seems to skip. The condition goes away once the phonebook transfer is completed. The MMI uses a limited portion of the total memory to convert the name and phone number fields of downloaded contacts into a voice command (text to speech). Extensive processing takes place if too many letters are used in the first and last name fields or if numbers or special characters are entered. The remaining memory is dynamically assigned to different applications which can also affect the capacity of the voice command processing. The MMI does not respond until the process is completed or it may freeze if phonebook fields are too large or do not follow typical formatting. In addition, the text-to-speech capacity is exceeded and the voice recognition system is rendered inactive. |
| A911587 2040406- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM). When the vehicle is started, the GPS location or vehicle direction indicated on the MMI navigation map does not match the vehicle's actual location or direction of travel for a long period of time (often as long as 10 minutes). The issue occurs in open sky, with no large buildings obstructing the sky view. The issue is intermittent, but it can occur for long periods of time during a single day. The issue typically happens on very warm days when the HVAC system blower is at a medium to high setting (auto or manual), with air being directed out of the panel vents. When the issue occurs, the GPS navigation system satellite reception shows 0 satellites. Due to the infrequency of the issue, this might not be verifiable. No DTCs related to the GPS antenna or MMI system are present. If the sky view is blocked because the vehicle is in a parking structure, below ground, or next to large buildings, it is normal for the GPS location or vehicle direction indicated on the MMI navigation map to not match the vehicle's actual location or direction of travel. The blocked sky view prevents the vehicle from receiving satellites, and the system may be temporarily lost until four satellites can be received. This is a normal condition, and is not related to the condition described above. Replacing the MMI main unit will not change this behavior. A potential failure in the internal hardware of the MMI main unit can cause the GPS signal to be blocked, even if good reception is available. The failure can happen at start-up or while the vehicle is being driven. The issue typically starts when the vehicle is driven on curvy or circular roads, driven in circles (such as when driven around a parking lot), or driven on or off an expressway. |
| A911583 2030465- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Group "B" complaints: Valid for vehicles with MMI software at or above version 566 but below 715. Continual improvements to MMI software provides solutions to issues experienced in the field. |
| A871563 2010146- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 14-54 dated August 28, 2014. There is an unpleasant, musty odor coming from the heating and ventilation system. The odor usually occurs when the vehicle has been sitting unused for five hours or more. The odor usually occurs within 20 to 60 seconds after the vehicle is started. Condensation, which is a normal condition in all A/C systems, can cause a musty odor. If the odor is noticeable in the vehicle when the engine is not turned on, the cause may be mold and mildew in the passenger compartment, and not be related to the A/C system. All other possible sources of the odor must be investigated before this bulletin can be performed. |
| A911582 2029903- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; BACK OVER PREVENTION: CAMERA SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-42 dated June 20, 2012. The customer complains about the picture quality of rearview backup camera image in the MMI screen. The picture is fuzzy or distorted. The guidelines used for parking are fuzzy, distorted, or pixelated when compared with the guidelines displayed on another vehicle?s MMI. |
| A001575 2035505- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 00 number 13-54 dated October 10, 2013. Audi of America (in conjunction with AUDI AG) is conducting a pilot program in the USA with a limited number of specially-built vehicles. These vehicles have a persistent internet connection and are designed to be accessed and started without the need for a traditional remote key. Instead, these vehicles use NFC (Near-field connectivity), or an iPhone with the Audi on Demand app, utilizing Bluetooth connectivity. The customer must leave the NFC card with the vehicle in order for the vehicle to be accessed and started. |
| A911580 2036575- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM). Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-27 dated March 4, 2014. The addresses and contacts stored in the Navigation >> Favorites, Navigation >> Directory, and Navigation >> Last destinations submenus disappear intermittently. Intermittently, the MMI system does not appear to remember that the user's myAudi PIN has already been entered, and it requires the user to enter the PIN again. The voice recognition system does not easily recognize commands spoken by the driver. This condition can be consistent or intermittent. Multiple voice recognition training sessions can be stored in the MMI for different users when different phones are Bluetooth-paired during each training session. If no phone is paired, the training session will be stored under a default profile. This profile will be used each time the voice recognition system is used without a phone being paired to the MMI. This TSB is informational only and not applicable to any Audi warranty. |
