Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi A5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A911426 2036576- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. SEATS. The MMI screen goes blank then restarts or the MMI screen freezes for a few minutes then recovers when the user searches for a contact name in the MMI address book when a phone is connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth. This condition occurs because special characters (including symbols, emoticons, or map icons) are stored in the name field of a phonebook contact. |

| A871447 2010146- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 12-27 dated April 24, 2012. There is an unpleasant, musty odor coming from the heating and ventilation system. The odor usually occurs when the vehicle has been sitting unused for five hours or more. The odor usually occurs within 20 to 60 seconds after the vehicle is started. Condensation, which is a normal condition in all A/C systems, can cause a musty odor. If the odor is noticeable in the vehicle when the engine is not turned on, the cause may be mold and mildew in the passenger compartment, and not be related to the A/C system. All other possible sources of the odor must be investigated before this bulletin can be performed. |
| A851420 2033596- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 85 number 13-17 dated May 15, 2013. DTCs may be stored in the heating and air conditioning electronics control module (address word 08). Improper operation of the fresh air blower could be caused by a faulty printed circuit board in the fresh air blower control module and/or the carbon brushes bind in the brush holder and, as a consequence, lose contact with the motor commutator of the fresh air blower. |
| A741418 2036572- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. SEATS. The panel on the back of the front seat is warped or dented. The headrest on the rear seatback may also be damaged. The damage is caused when the headrest of the rear seat backrest comes in contact with the back of the front seat. This occurs when the rear seat is folded down with the headrests installed, and the front seat is moved back far enough to make contact with the rear seat headrest. |
| A471405 2030704- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 47 number 12-04 dated September 5, 2012. Rattling noises are heard from the front axle when the vehicle is driven over bumpy or rough roads. Poor quality of some retaining springs causes this condition. Functionality of the brakes is not affected. |
| A461470 2033674- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 13-62 dated November 21, 2013. Brakes on vehicles produced before September 3, 2012 (calendar week 36 of 2012), squeak or squeal when used with light to moderate force. |
| A401439 2035854- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 40 number 13-37 dated December 3, 2013. A rattling or knocking noise is heard when the car is driven over bumps or uneven road surfaces. This noise is heard after the car has been driven for a while and is warmed up, and when the temperature outside is warm. This condition can be duplicated if the brakes are applied while the car is being driven over bumpy roads. This condition is a comfort concern. Vehicle handling is not affected. High ambient temperatures at the hydraulic guide links cause the noise. |
| A001459 2029737- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 00 number 12-34 dated June 6, 2012. The process of draining oil through the drain plug is not always tidy. When oil is drained through the drain plug, the oil might spill on components around the oil pan area. If it is not properly cleaned up, this spilled oil could drip after the procedure is complete, causing unnecessary customer complaints. |
| A451408 2033412- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. STEERING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 45 number 13-07 dated September 25, 2013. Steering wheel does not lock. Various warning lights are on. Steering feels stiffer than usual. The engine cannot be switched off. The ignition key cannot be removed. There are DTC entries present in the system (either static or sporadic). DTCs with description ?Brake control module - no signal/communication? are present in several control units. DTCs are stored in the ABS control module. This condition does not result in any drivability concerns. The steering system is fully connected. The insulation for the ABS wheel speed sensor is damaged in production. Over time, this can lead to corrosion on the wires and restricted functions with the ABS control module. Only the wires in the left bulkhead grommet are affected. |
| A001349 2033576- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Although the correct amount of oil was added to the engine during an oil change service, a check of the oil level shows that the oil level is not okay. When an unapproved aftermarket speed-filling device is used to add oil to the engine, the increased oil flow rate may force oil into the intake manifold or combustion chamber, creating the potential for engine damage. |

| A901451 2021151- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-63 dated October 4, 2012. The customer may report flickering of the dash insert lighting, of the A/C control panel lighting, or of the inside light. The condition occurs when the accelerator is pressed while the vehicle is in P or N, or when the vehicle is shifted down when moving downhill. Only vehicles with PR number 8GH may be affected. When high electricity consumers are switched off when the battery is fully charged, the energy generated by the alternator is sometimes too great for the power system to absorb. This may lead to briefly-increased voltage, causing the lights to flicker. |
| A441456 2022563- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 14-50 dated May 14, 2014. If an applicable Repair Authorization is not followed, the claim will not be paid. |

The engine warning light is on after engine replacement. The engine is not running roughly. However, the engine control module, J623 (address word 01), is storing one or more engine misfire fault codes. The fault codes occur at light load, between 8% and 14% accelerator pedal position. The programmed values for the misfiring recognition are not automatically reset by deleting the memory once. |
| A011491 2028842- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Customer vehicle is fitted with unauthorized ECM tuning. All systems on Audi vehicles are engineered to work together using the factory calibrations, which have been extensively tested and validated before the vehicle is released for sale. The Audi warranty coverage is based on the results of developing the vehicle under the factory calibration. If a vehicle is equipped with unauthorized hardware or software tuning, it can cause stress on vehicle components outside of intended design limits, and can cause damage and additional wear.
