Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi A5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A921409 2038151- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 92 number 14-08 dated August 19, 2014. The washer solvent level warning is on in the DIS, but the washer solvent level is correct. There is no functional restriction in the windshield washer system. The sensitivity of the washer solvent level sensor (G33) can be affected by the type, concentration, and the presence of additives in the washer solvent currently in the tank. The operation of the level sensor relies on the composition of the solvent to provide an accurate message on the solvent level. Incorrect concentration and the presence of additives can contaminate the sensor and reduce its sensitivity. |
| A911463 2028190- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-08 dated September 20, 2013. The customer would like to add a different navigation map database for countries outside of the USA or Canada. The customer would like to change the MMI system language to a different language that is not already supported by MMI. When a song is being played and the track information for that song contains foreign language characters, the driver information system (DIS) in the cluster correctly displays the characters, but the MMI display does not. |
| A871458 2035582- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 13-46 dated October 21, 2013. Steering wheel appearance damaged due to external impact (e.g., contact with finger nails, zippers, watches, rings, etc.). External impact (e.g., contact with finger nails, zippers, watches, rings etc.) can cause damage to the appearance of the steering wheel. This type of damage is not warrantable, as numerous investigations have shown that there is no fault in material or workmanship. |

A rattling or knocking noise is heard when the car is driven over bumps or uneven road surfaces. This noise is heard after the car has been driven for a while and is warmed up, and when the temperature outside is warm. This condition can be duplicated if the brakes are applied while the car is being driven over bumpy roads. This condition is a comfort concern. Vehicle handling is not affected. This bulletin applies only to vehicles equipped with 75mm hydro-bushings. This bulletin does not apply to vehicles equipped with 65mm bushings. High ambient temperatures at the hydraulic guide links cause the noise. |
| A911466 2020399- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-24 dated January 24, 2014. The Audi MMI system will not play audio files from an SD card. The MMI system does not recognize the audio files on the SD card. The MMI system reports that the audio files on the SD card are damaged. The audio files on the SD card will play on one Audi vehicle, but will not play on a different Audi vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with RNS-E, Concert Radio with SD card slot, MMI3G, MMI3G+, or MIB. |
| A911467 2021037- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-85 dated May 29, 2013. Customer may report harsh shift concerns, but the customer is unable to determine the shift point because there is no gear indicator in the cluster. The concern can be reproduced. No faults are stored. TAC must be contacted before any repairs are attempted. Specific information about the concern must be gathered (as described in the Service portion of this bulletin) before TAC is contacted. |
| A011498 2038166- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The engine warning light is on after engine replacement. The engine is not running roughly. However, fault codes are stored in the engine control module (ECM). The fault codes occur at light load, between 8% and 14% accelerator pedal position. The programmed values for the misfire adaption are not automatically reset when the memory is deleted. The adaption must be reset after the engine is installed. |

| A481347 2034351- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. STEERING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 13-45 dated July 10, 2013. Customer may report hearing creaking or squeaking noise from the steering column when steering slowly (the noise can be duplicated while the vehicle is stationary if the steering wheel is turned slowly). The noise may get louder at higher temperatures or when the vehicle is driven for a longer period of time. The noise comes from the sealing sleeve/steering column opening on the bulkhead. Listen to the attached audio file for example of the noise. Insufficient lubrication of the intermediate steering shaft in the area of the sealing sleeve. |

| A641329 2020552- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD. Windshield is streaked, has a snakeskin appearance, or its surface feels rough. Residue from industrial fallout as well as normal road dirt and grime may accumulate on windshield. |
| A801304 2033806- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 80 number 13-03 dated May 13, 2013. Malfunction Indicator Lamp is on. Climate system heating performance is insufficient. Coolant level warning is on. Engine temperature is elevated. "Limp Home" mode is active. Faults are stored in the transmission control module. Coolant loss is found from one or more control valves: N82, N509, or N488. Coolant may have migrated into the wiring harness through the connector and into various control units. Climate system heating performance is insufficient due to coolant loss, or due to a faulty N82 control valve. Inspection of the coolant control valves N82, N509, or N488 reveals the presence of coolant inside the electrical connector. The connectors, wiring harness, and/or connected control units may have been damaged from exposure to coolant. |
| A871344 2020124- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 13-43 dated July 12, 2013. Air conditioning is inoperative. The HVAC blower functions normally. The A/C pressure/temperature sensor, G395, leaks refrigerant. This causes sensor G395 to show an incorrect or implausible value when reading MVBs. An incorrect signal or a low refrigerant level in the system can cause the air conditioning compressor to deactivate. Battery discharged; however, when charged, there is no bus silence when vehicle ignition is off. The LIN cable connecting the vehicle electrical system control module, J519, to sensor G395 is pinched or cut. This affects the A4/S4, A5/S5 Coupe and Cabriolet, and Q5 vehicles. The A6 and A8 are not affected by this type of failure. The pressure sensor G395/G65 sends an incorrect signal that prevents bus silence and the battery is discharged. Sensor G395 is a LIN slave of the vehicle electrical system control module. The vehicle electrical system control module transfers the information provided by the sensor via the comfort data bus to the climate control module, J255. |
