| AWA-13-07 | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL. As part of Audi's ongoing commitment to our environment, Audi is extending the Emissions Control Systems Warranty to cover cleaning of the engine cylinder head secondary air ports to remove carbon buildup under specific conditions to 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's original in-service date for certain 2009-12 Model Year Audi vehicles with 3.2L engine, and certain 2009-2013 Model Year Audi vehicles with 3.0T engines. The vehicle's original in-service date is defined as the date the vehicle was delivered to either the original purchaser or the original lessee; or if the vehicle was first placed in service as a "demonstrator" or "company" car, on the date such vehicle was first placed in service. The warranty extension is fully transferable to subsequent owners. Audi has determined that under certain driving conditions, carbon buildup can occur in the engine cylinder head secondary airports. Due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this carbon buildup, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster may illuminate. The MIL is part of the on-board diagnostic system. In some locales, an illuminated MIL could cause the vehicle to fail an IM emissions inspection, vehicle registration application could be denied. Audi will diagnose, and if necessary clean the engine cylinder head secondary air ports to remove the carbon buildup at no cost to the customer as long as the vehicle is within the time and mileage limits of the warranty extension. This warranty extension covers only the diagnosis and cleaning of the cylinder head secondary air ports to remove the carbon buildup. Reimbursement is applicable only to the repairs described in this Warranty Bulletin. |
| AWA-13-09 | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. Audi has determined that a faulty fuel injector may cause minor misfire conditions and, in turn, cause the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster to illuminate due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component. Please note that it is highly unlikely that the vehicle will experience an issue with multiple fuel injectors at the same time. The MIL is part of the on-board diagnostic system. Please refer to the owner's manual for additional information about the MIL. In some locales, an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp could cause the vehicle to fail an IM emissions inspection, and the vehicle registration application could be denied. Be aware that other conditions (unrelated to the issue described in this bulletin) may cause the MIL in the vehicle to illuminate. Customers should be prepared to cover all diagnosis and repair costs for these other, unrelated conditions. This warranty extension covers only the diagnosis and replacement of a faulty fuel injector. |
| Customer Letter | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Audi has determined that, under certain driving conditions, carbon buildup can occur in the engine cylinder head secondary air ports. Due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this carbon buildup, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster may illuminate. The MIL is part of your on-board diagnostic system. Please refer to your owner's manual for additional information about the MIL. In some locales, an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp could cause your vehicle to fail an IM emissions inspection, and your vehicle registration application could be denied. Please be aware that other conditions (unrelated to the issue described in this letter) may cause the MIL in your vehicle to illuminate. Customers should be prepared to cover all diagnosis and repair costs for these other, unrelated conditions. |
| A911393 2034784- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Some telephone numbers that were downloaded via Bluetooth® are stored with additional, unrelated numbers that do not appear in the contact on the customer"s cellular phone. These telephone numbers are displayed incorrectly on the radio display. The software incorrectly stores the downloaded phone numbers. |
| A961367 2019260- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12-37 dated June 11, 2012. The customer may report that the handheld transmitter cannot be programmed to the garage door opener control module, J530. The customer's door opener system may not be compatible with J530. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. In A4 Model Years 2005 - 2006 and A3 Model Year 2009, the actual location of the garage door opener control module differs from the location shown in the owner's manual (opposite side of front bumper). The customer may misunderstand the programming procedure, particularly if the customer's HomeLink® opener system is using an alternate code. The handheld transmitter's programming function may become inoperative, or the transmitter is too far away from J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. If the vehicle flashes during the programming of a handheld transmitter, this does not necessarily indicate that the programming was successful; it only indicates that the vehicle has recognized and saved a signal. |
| A961368 2029384- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 13-64 dated June 20, 2013. The customer is able to program one or more of the Homelink buttons using their garage door remote, but after a few days or weeks, one or more of the programmed Homelink buttons no longer functions. The LED on the Homelink button that is no longer functioning now flashes slowly, indicating that no programming is stored. The customer's transmitter operates at 295Mhz. No DTCs are stored in any control units. At the workshop, the Homelink system can be programmed to the workshop garage door successfully. No trouble is found. The garage door opener control module, J530, was designed with an operational frequency range in which the 295Mhz frequency works correctly during the initial programming of the system. Over time, the transmitting frequency can drift out of range (especially in warmer climates), causing the system to lose its programming. |
| A911392 2030947- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated September 25, 2012. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone gets the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call assuming the phone is not responding. |
| A911388 2021780- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 10-70 dated October 26, 2010. Sequence of error messages are seen on the radio display screen after a CD was loaded into or removed from the internal CD drive. "Drive defective. The error could be corrected by resetting it (see radio system owner's manual). Otherwise, contact your Audi dealer." "The CD-drive is damaged and was therefore deactivated." The CD drive cannot be selected in the Source list and is described as "damaged." After the ignition is cycled or a radio reset performed, the CD drive is fully operational. DTC 00468 (CD-ROM Drive -R92- Faulty) is stored in the radio (address word 56). The DTC will be sporadic if the ignition has been cycled or a radio reset performed and will automatically be cleared after 40 ignition cycles without a reoccurrence. Only vehicles with the CAN-based generation 3 radio (Concert (PR 8UQ) or Symphony (PR 8YN)) are affected. |
| A871343 2020124- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 13-42 dated June 11, 2013. Air conditioning is inoperative. The HVAC blower functions normally. Battery discharged; however, when charged, there is no bus silence when vehicle ignition is off. The A/C pressure/temperature sensor, G395, leaks refrigerant. This causes sensor G395 to show an incorrect or implausible value when reading MVBs. An incorrect signal or a low refrigerant level in the system can cause the air conditioning compressor to deactivate. The LIN cable connecting the vehicle electrical system control module, J519, to sensor G395 is pinched or cut. This affects the A4/S4, A5/S5 Coupe and Cabriolet, and Audi Q5 vehicles. The A6 and A8 are not affected by this type of failure. The pressure sensor G395/G65 sends an incorrect signal that prevents bus silence and the battery is discharged. Sensor G395 is a LIN slave of the vehicle electrical system control module. The vehicle electrical system control module transfers the information provided by the sensor via the comfort data bus to the climate control module, J255. |
| A551332 2023967- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:FRONT UNDERHOOD; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 55 number 13-30 dated May 28, 2013. "Low Oil Level" message is on in the DIS or MMI. The hood must be open for at least 30 seconds for a reset of this message to be performed. The message is not reset in the DIS/MMI because the hood has not been recognized as being opened due to an inoperative hood contact switch. |
| A481346 2021191- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. STEERING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 40 number 09-06 dated August 3, 2009. Customer hears squeaking noises when turning or maneuvering the steering wheel. The folds of the outer CV joint rubber boots can touch each other when the steering wheel is turned. |
| A461351 2033674- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 13-46 dated June 27, 2013. Brakes on vehicles produced before September 3, 2012 (calendar week 36 of 2012), squeak or squeal when used with light to moderate force. |
| A461347 2034387- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE. Customer may report sporadically hearing the parking brake being actuated after the vehicle has been switched off. If the customer does not identify the sound as the sound of the parking brake being actuated, he or she may simply complain of hearing noises from the rear brakes. Ignition is switched off. Steering is locked. Park is selected. Parking brake is not engaged. If the electro-mechanical parking brake is not operated for some time, the free play between brake pads and brake discs increases because of normal brake pad wear. The parking brake control unit performs an automatic correction about every 621 miles (1,000 km). On A8 models, the brake pad thickness is also calculated. |
| A371309 2028715- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 12-40 dated February 28, 2012. Rough gear changes, both when accelerating and when slowing down. There is a rough driving power disruption that occurs sporadically and lasts for less than a second. After a mechatronics, torque converter, or complete gearbox replacement, the clutches must be adapted to the new component. This requires a gradual move of the clutch linings toward the optimal operating points in the most diverse load conditions. As a result, sporadic driving power disruptions lasting for less than a second or reduced shift comfort are possible over the first 500 miles. This is normal, and these issues will decrease over time. The issues can also occur if the adaptation values of the gearbox were deleted. |
| A211316 2031245- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 21 number 13-14 dated June 7, 2013. MIL on. DTC P029900 (Negative Pressure Deviation) is stored as a static fault in the engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 01). Turbocharger waste gate flap has play. Under certain driving conditions, the linkage for the waste gate actuation can encounter excessive wear which leads to play at the waste gate flap. This leads to boost escaping through a loose flap, which sets DTC P029900 (Negative Pressure Deviation). |
| A191344 2033491- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 19 number 13-42 dated July 11, 2013. Customer may report coolant leaking from the engine area. The leak can be traced to the connection of the water pump and the hose leading to the heater core. The seal ring is not the cause of the leak. |
| A191342 2033491- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 19 number 13-40 dated June 17, 2013. Customer may report coolant leaking from the engine area. The leak can be traced to the connection of the water pump and the hose leading to the heater core. The seal ring is not the cause of the leak. |
| A941306 2017806- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EXTERIOR LIGHTING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 12-79 dated June 6, 2012. Light bulb warning light and the message Vehicle lights: malfunction is displayed in the instrument cluster display. DTC 03280 (Light switch position implausible signal) is stored in the vehicle electrical system control module, J519 (09). Exterior lights are functioning properly. If the headlight switch is moved to an intermediate position and remains there, the light bulb warning light and the error message appear after approximately ten seconds. Once displayed, the message turns off after approximately five seconds. The light bulb warning light turns off only after the headlight switch is turned to a defined position, and the status of DTC 03280 is changed to sporadic. After 40 driving cycles without an implausible signal detected, the DTC is automatically cleared. |
| A911374 2024323- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION: CAMERA SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated October 1, 2012. Parking aid sporadically warns of obstacles when none exist. Parking aid is inoperative or provides constant warning. Various parking aid sensor fitting issues. Environmental conditions. |
| A571383 2021363- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 11-48 dated July 25, 2011. Vehicle doors cannot be locked or unlocked using Advanced key. Vehicle cannot be started using the Start-Stop button. In Access/Start Authorization Control Module J518 (address word 05), DTC 03283 (Driver's side Access/Start Authorization Antenna Short Circuit to Ground), DTC 03284 (Right Access/Start Authorization Antenna Short Circuit to Ground) or DTC 00183 (Interior Access/Start Authorization Antenna 1 -R138-) are stored. Vehicle keys function properly otherwise, operating the door locks via the remote control as well as starting the vehicle using the ignition switch. |
| A571382 2017082- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 11-55 dated August 22, 2011. Central locking via remote control does not work either sporadically or permanently. The locks can still be operated manually. Missing synchronization between the remote control key and vehicle because the battery has been disconnected or the battery of the remote control has been replaced. If other senders operate in the same frequency range (mobile phones, TV stations, wireless headphones, baby monitors, other vehicle remote controls, etc.), the remote control key may have been temporarily switched off because a clear identification of the remote control key is not possible. This is necessary to prevent an unintentional unlocking of the vehicle by other unrelated senders. |
| A551327 2023967- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 55 number 12-24 dated August 7, 2012. "Low Oil Level" message is on in the DIS or MMI. The hood must be open for at least 30 seconds for a reset of this message to be performed. The message is not reset in the DIS/MMI because the hood has not been recognized as being opened due to an inoperative hood contact switch. |
| A441336 2022563- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 13-35 dated January 18, 2013. Customer feels vibration from 55 - 80 mph (88 - 128 km/h) in the seat, vehicle floor, footwell, pedals, or steering wheel. This condition does not result in any handling concerns or loss of vehicle control. |
| A851316 2033596- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. The fresh air blower is inoperative. DTCs may be stored in the heating and air conditioning electronics control module (address word 08). Malfunctions of the fresh air blower could be caused by a faulty printed circuit board in the fresh air blower control module and the carbon brushes bind in the brush holder and, as a consequence, lose contact with the motor commutator of the fresh air blower. |
The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
