Service bulletins for the 2013 Audi A4 allroad

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

A871447 2010146-2017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 12-27 dated April 24, 2012. There is an unpleasant, musty odor coming from the heating and ventilation system. The odor usually occurs when the vehicle has been sitting unused for five hours or more. The odor usually occurs within 20 to 60 seconds after the vehicle is started. Condensation, which is a normal condition in all A/C systems, can cause a musty odor. If the odor is noticeable in the vehicle when the engine is not turned on, the cause may be mold and mildew in the passenger compartment, and not be related to the A/C system. All other possible sources of the odor must be investigated before this bulletin can be performed.

DTCs may be stored in the heating and air conditioning electronics control module (address word 08). Improper operation of the fresh air blower could be caused by a faulty printed circuit board in the fresh air blower control module and/or the carbon brushes bind in the brush holder and, as a consequence, lose contact with the motor commutator of the fresh air blower.
A741418 2036572-2017-12-14. Service bulletin. SEATS. The panel on the back of the front seat is warped or dented. The headrest on the rear seatback may also be damaged. The damage is caused when the headrest of the rear seat backrest comes in contact with the back of the front seat. This occurs when the rear seat is folded down with the headrests installed, and the front seat is moved back far enough to make contact with the rear seat headrest.
A471405 2030704-2017-12-14. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 47 number 12-04 dated September 5, 2012. Rattling noises are heard from the front axle when the vehicle is driven over bumpy or rough roads. Poor quality of some retaining springs causes this condition. Functionality of the brakes is not affected.

Customer may report hearing brake noise from front or rear brakes. Customers may describe these noises as a squeal, squeak, grinding, groaning, thumping, or creaking. Before proceeding with any of the following steps, check for any applicable TSBs for brake noise. This TSB should not be used if another brake noise TSB is available for the vehicle. For additional helpful information, refer to the Audi Brake Systems brochure.
A401439 2035854-2017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 40 number 13-37 dated December 3, 2013. A rattling or knocking noise is heard when the car is driven over bumps or uneven road surfaces. This noise is heard after the car has been driven for a while and is warmed up, and when the temperature outside is warm. This condition can be duplicated if the brakes are applied while the car is being driven over bumpy roads. This condition is a comfort concern. Vehicle handling is not affected. High ambient temperatures at the hydraulic guide links cause the noise.
A001459 2029737-2017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 00 number 12-34 dated June 6, 2012. The process of draining oil through the drain plug is not always tidy. When oil is drained through the drain plug, the oil might spill on components around the oil pan area. If it is not properly cleaned up, this spilled oil could drip after the procedure is complete, causing unnecessary customer complaints.

Various warning lights are on. Steering feels stiffer than usual. The engine cannot be switched off. The ignition key cannot be removed. There are DTC entries present in the system (either static or sporadic). DTCs with description ?Brake control module - no signal/communication? are present in several control units. DTCs are stored in the ABS control module. This condition does not result in any drivability concerns. The steering system is fully connected. The insulation for the ABS wheel speed sensor is damaged in production. Over time, this can lead to corrosion on the wires and restricted functions with the ABS control module. Only the wires in the left bulkhead grommet are affected.
A001349 2033576-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Although the correct amount of oil was added to the engine during an oil change service, a check of the oil level shows that the oil level is not okay. When an unapproved aftermarket speed-filling device is used to add oil to the engine, the increased oil flow rate may force oil into the intake manifold or combustion chamber, creating the potential for engine damage.

The condition occurs when the accelerator is pressed while the vehicle is in P or N, or when the vehicle is shifted down when moving downhill. Only vehicles with PR number 8GH may be affected. When high electricity consumers are switched off when the battery is fully charged, the energy generated by the alternator is sometimes too great for the power system to absorb. This may lead to briefly-increased voltage, causing the lights to flicker.
