Service bulletin SSM 50970

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some 2021-2022 Edge vehicles may exhibit a concern during an accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software update where the vehicle fails to recognize the universal serial bus (USB) drive or center display screen does not acknowledge USB programming has started. If the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) application titled Module Update Repair has been performed previously but the vehicle fails to indicate that the USB programming has started, inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution, expected by the end of August 2022. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available.

SSM 520762023-11-21. Service bulletin. Some 2019-2021 Edge/Nautilus vehicles equipped with all wheel drive (AWD) may exhibit a noise from the rear of the vehicle while approaching the vehicle or prior to starting engine. This may be due to the rear drive unit (RDU) actuator learning process. Reprogram the software in the AWD module to minimize the noise using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. If no other concerns or symptoms are present, further diagnosis or repairs are not recommended. For claiming, use causal part 4000 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SSM 508292022-06-17. Service bulletin. 2021-2022 various Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1A01:93 stored in the telematics control unit (TCU). This may be due to various software parameters within the TCU. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the TCU operation, clear this DTC and no further repairs are recommended. If the DTC returns after being cleared or if the vehicle exhibits connectivity concerns with the TCU, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If set erroneously, this DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) TCU update in July 2022 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.
TSB 22-21502022-04-20. Service bulletin. This article supersedes TSB 22-2117 to update the Issue, Action, Service Procedure. The PTS OTA Dashboard on vehicles with this condition may also display multiple APIM and/or TCU updates have failed, and/or a no OTA history message. In addition, on vehicles with this condition, the customer may have reported experiencing a Ford Power-Up software update failure message via the vehicle display and/or FordPass/LincolnWay. This may be due to an internal software error. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update and/or recover the APIM/TCU. Note: Only 10% of vehicles may require this procedure.
