Service bulletin SSM 51721

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some 2022 Edge vehicles built on and after 16-Nov-2022 and 2022 Explorer vehicles built on and after 20-Sep-2022 may exhibit a brief illumination of the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) when the vehicle is shifted into park (P) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0919 and/or P0929 stored in the gear shift module (GSM). This may be due to the GSM software. To correct this condition, update the software in the GSM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). For claiming use the causal part number 7P155 and applicable labor operations in Section 07 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS).

Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component
TSB 23-23072023-11-02. Service bulletin. Some 2019-2020 Edge/F-150/Fusion/Continental/MKZ/Nautilus, 2019-2021 Mustang/Ranger/Transit Connect, 2020-2021 EcoSport/Escape/Expedition/Explorer/F-Super Duty/Aviator/Corsair/Navigator, 2021 Bronco Sport and 2020-2022 Explorer/Aviator vehicles with SYNC 3 may experience various SYNC performance related concerns. This may be due to the SYNC Software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the SYNC module (APIM) software.
SSM 509702022-08-02. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2022 Edge vehicles may exhibit a concern during an accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software update where the vehicle fails to recognize the universal serial bus (USB) drive or center display screen does not acknowledge USB programming has started. If the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) application titled Module Update Repair has been performed previously but the vehicle fails to indicate that the USB programming has started, inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution, expected by the end of August 2022. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available.
SSM 508292022-06-17. Service bulletin. 2021-2022 various Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1A01:93 stored in the telematics control unit (TCU). This may be due to various software parameters within the TCU. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the TCU operation, clear this DTC and no further repairs are recommended. If the DTC returns after being cleared or if the vehicle exhibits connectivity concerns with the TCU, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If set erroneously, this DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) TCU update in July 2022 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.

Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty/Explorer/Aviator and 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Front Camera Fault, Lane Keeping Fault, and/or Collison Warning Not Available message with various diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored in the image processing module A (IPMA). If programming fails or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) states a file failed to flash after replacing the IPMA or reprogramming IPMA software, test the battery using any approved Rotunda tool including the GR-190, GRX-3590, and DCA-8000. Fully recharge or replace the battery according to results of the tool. Set the battery charger to maintain battery voltage between 12.6 and 13.6 volts during the entire programming procedure. The IPMA programming procedure may take several hours to complete due to the size of the software files required.
