Service bulletin SSM 50272
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
Some 2021 Bronco, Edge/Nautilus customers may be unable to authorize the FordPass/LincolnWay app and the Enable Connected Services prompt is not showing in the SYNC screen with no diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) present in the telematics control unit (TCU) or the gateway module A (GWM). Before any repair attempts, try to authorize the vehicle via FordPass/LincolnWay app in order to verify the concern is still present. If the concern is present, make sure the GWM is at the latest software level. Start a new FDRS session and make sure the TCU is at the latest software level. If no software updates are available, remove the TCU and GWM fuses to reset the modules. Make sure the customer is able to authorize the vehicle from FordPass/LincolnWay to confirm the repair. If the concern is still present, follow normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 415-00.

| SSM 52364 | 2024-04-04. Service bulletin. 2021-2023 Bronco vehicles built on or before 9-Jul-2023 may have new version software in their driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) that contains noticeable enhancements to the window short drop operation. This software level can be identified in the DDM and PDM as Software Part Number MU5T-14C064-CR or later. This software was released via a software update delivered over-the-air (OTA) starting in September 2023 if the vehicle's connectivity was enabled in the vehicle settings. Vehicles with this new software will exhibit a short drop event to all door windows anytime the vehicle is unlocked using the remote keyless entry (RKE), accessory keyless entry keypad, or the interior door unlock switch. The short drop function will return to the UP position when a lock input is received from these same inputs. For vehicles equipped with passive entry, a short drop event will not activate when a door is unlocked by placing a hand on an exterior door handle. 2023-2024 Bronco vehicles built on and after 10-Jul-2023 received this software from the factory. |

| SSM 52076 | 2023-11-21. Service bulletin. Some 2019-2021 Edge/Nautilus vehicles equipped with all wheel drive (AWD) may exhibit a noise from the rear of the vehicle while approaching the vehicle or prior to starting engine. This may be due to the rear drive unit (RDU) actuator learning process. Reprogram the software in the AWD module to minimize the noise using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. If no other concerns or symptoms are present, further diagnosis or repairs are not recommended. For claiming, use causal part 4000 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 52036 | 2023-11-09. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 Bronco vehicles equipped with 4x4 with part time engagement may exhibit a condition of the vehicle being stuck in neutral tow mode. This may be due to a concern with the all-wheel drive (AWD) module. Make sure the proper procedure is being followed to exit neutral tow mode by referring to the Owner's Manual > Towing Your Vehicle > Recreationally Towing Your Vehicle. Make sure the vehicle's battery is fully charged and then diagnose all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the AWD module. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-07A. If diagnostics do not resolve the concern or there are no DTCs present in the AWD module, replace the transfer case and the AWD module. Refer to the appropriate section of the WSM. Once repair is complete, verify the vehicle's ability to successfully enter and exit neutral tow mode by cycling the vehicle in and out of neutral tow mode a minimum of two times, allowing the vehicle to enter sleep mode (key-off for at least 5 minutes) between each cycle. Inform customers that Ford is currently working on a software update to address this condition without a need |

| SSM 51762 | 2023-07-03. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 4 may exhibit the navigation feature in the center display screen only displaying imperial units and not being able to change to metric. This may be due to the software level of the SYNC module (APIM). This issue does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition and will be released via Ford Power-Up software updates delivered over-the-air (OTA) expected in September 2023. Software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the vehicles settings. Schedule a service visit for customers who have disabled vehicle connectivity or who report that they did not receive the update in September 2023. Monitor OASIS for additional information. |
| SSM 51677 | 2023-06-08. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 Bronco vehicles may exhibit an inaccurate AAT reading with DTC P0072 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). The Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 413-01 > pinpoint test (PPT) BC has been updated to address this concern. The AAT WSM updates include: improved diagnosis and testing, AAT sensor reset, and the AAT sensor interaction with climate control system and gateway module A (GWM). |

Some 2021-2022 Edge vehicles may exhibit a concern during an accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software update where the vehicle fails to recognize the universal serial bus (USB) drive or center display screen does not acknowledge USB programming has started. If the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) application titled Module Update Repair has been performed previously but the vehicle fails to indicate that the USB programming has started, inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution, expected by the end of August 2022. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. |
| SSM 50829 | 2022-06-17. Service bulletin. 2021-2022 various Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1A01:93 stored in the telematics control unit (TCU). This may be due to various software parameters within the TCU. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the TCU operation, clear this DTC and no further repairs are recommended. If the DTC returns after being cleared or if the vehicle exhibits connectivity concerns with the TCU, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If set erroneously, this DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) TCU update in July 2022 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously. |
| TSB 22-2150 | 2022-04-20. Service bulletin. This article supersedes TSB 22-2117 to update the Issue, Action, Service Procedure. For some 2021 Mustang Mach-E, F-150, Edge, Nautilus and Bronco vehicles technicians may experience the inability to update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) or telematics control unit (TCU) using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive. The PTS OTA Dashboard on vehicles with this condition may also display multiple APIM and/or TCU updates have failed, and/or a no OTA history message. In addition, on vehicles with this condition, the customer may have reported experiencing a Ford Power-Up software update failure message via the vehicle display and/or FordPass/LincolnWay. This may be due to an internal software error. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update and/or recover the APIM/TCU. Note: Only 10% of vehicles may require this procedure. |
