What is wrong

Issue:

On certain vehicles, the front trunk (frunk) hood latch may not be positioned properly. As a result, the secondary latch may not hold the hood closed. This could cause the hood to open suddenly while driving if the primary hood latch is released.

Safety Risk:

A hood that opens suddenly while driving could block the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:

Tesla will notify owners by e-mail and arrange for an inspection of the secondary hood latch. If the hood doesn't latch properly, Tesla Service will reassemble and reposition the latch mechanism.

Bulletins for the same vehicles and component

Bulletins for the same vehicles and component
SB-21-17-0022021-03-15. Service bulletin. The grounding path conductivity for some Model Y front body controller modules might cause the vehicle touchscreen to display an erroneous ?Hood latch sensor requires service? message. This condition will not affect any functions of the frunk latch.
SB-20-12-0022020-04-06. Service bulletin. On some Model S, Model X, and Model 3 vehicles, condensation might build up inside of the B-pillar applique, potentially obscuring the B-pillar camera. This condition might cause some Autopilot features to be temporarily unavailable until the condensation goes away, such as Auto Lane Change, Blind Spot Detection, and Lane Departure Warning.
SB1617010R12019-11-25. Service bulletin. On some Model S vehicles, the G625 ground branch of the front body harness might have too much slack. This might cause chafing or other damage to the ground cable.
SB-18-11-003 R12019-10-15. Service bulletin. Excessive water ingress to the latches on the rear doors may damage internal components or impede operation of the rear door latch.
SB-18-11-002 R12019-10-15. Service bulletin. On some Model X vehicles, water might enter the door latches on the rear (Falcon Wing) doors, which can damage the electrical components integral to door latching operation.
SB1917005R12019-05-28. Service bulletin. On some Model X vehicles, a pinched electrical wiring harness at the liftgate might create an obstruction alert, causing the power function of the liftgate not to operate. The liftgate can still be manually opened and closed.
SB-16-11-006 R22019-03-11. Service bulletin. Early front door latches are susceptible to water ingress, which might cause the touchscreen to show the door in the wrong position or prevent the door from opening and closing automatically. The door can still be opened with the inside handle.
SB-19-30-0012019-03-11. Service bulletin. The rear node of some Model S and Model X vehicles might have damage in the forward mounting location of the rear subframe, resulting in noise, vibration, or harshness coming from that location.
SB-19-11-0012019-02-19. Service bulletin. On certain Model S vehicles, the liftgate has plugs that do not allow water to drain, causing condensation to build up inside the tail light assembly. Tail light functionality is not affected. The retrofit of updated drain-type liftgate plugs allows water to escape the liftgate and keep the tail lights dry.
SB-18-11-005 R12018-07-16. Service bulletin. On some Model 3 vehicles, water might leak inside the motors of both front window motor/regulator assemblies. This might cause the motors to fail and potentially make the front windows inoperable.

A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers. It is not part of this recall.
