What is wrong

Issue:

On certain vehicles, the cover for the manual park release (MPR) lever may not be installed. If the MPR lever is accidentally pushed, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK without a key in the ignition. Canadian regulations require a cover over this lever. Additionally, the vehicle may also be in Factory Mode, which disables warning alerts and chimes, and does not display the transmission gear position (under certain conditions).

Safety Risk:

A missing MPR cover could create a situation where the transmission can be shifted without a key in the ignition. If the transmission position is not displayed, a user may not know that the vehicle is not in the PARK position. If the parking brake is not applied, either of these situations could create a risk of a vehicle roll-away and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:

The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect for the MPR cover. If missing, it will be installed. The dealer will also verify that the instrument cluster is not set to Factory Mode.

TSB 23-21202023-05-23. Service bulletin. Some 2018-2021 Expedition/Navigator and 2020-2021 Explorer/Aviator vehicles equipped with a 10R80/10R80 MHT or 10R60 may exhibit a momentary transmission neutral-out condition while in drive. Vehicle may also have diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P07E6 and/or P07E4 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM) and/or a possible audible noise. This may be due to a leak in the park valve circuit. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to inspect the park system hardware for wear or damage and replace the valve body separator plate with an improved valve body separator plate.
SSM 513742023-03-04. Service bulletin. Some 2020-2021 Escape/Bronco Sport/Explorer and 2020-2021 Corsair/Aviator vehicles equipped with electric brake booster (EBB) built on or before 1-Aug-2022 may exhibit an illuminated anti-lock brake system (ABS) warning indicator and stability-traction control warning indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3000:96 erroneously stored in the ABS module. This condition occurs during connection or power interrupt to the EBB module. If this code is stored and the ABS system has been reassembled, clear the DTC code using Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool and check for recurrence. If the DTC persists, perform normal diagnostics. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-09 Anti-Lock Brake System. For claiming use the causal part number 2C219 and applicable labor operations in Section 2 of the Service Labor Time Standards.
SSM 512612023-01-06. Service bulletin. Some Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit noise when the brakes are applied. When diagnosing and repairing brake noise conditions, use the Workshop Manual (WSM) and the appropriate pinpoint test in section 206-00. The brake rotors should only be machined if directed by the WSM because one or more of the following conditions are present on the braking surface: scoring, excessive corrosion/rust or pitting, bluing/discoloration and/or heat spots. For additional information, refer to WSM section 206-00.
SSM 511202022-10-11.
SSM 504722022-02-16. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2022 Bronco vehicles equipped with the 2.3L engine may exhibit a red brake warning lamp and/or brake system warning message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P050F in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module and a firm brake pedal. This may be due to contamination in a brake booster vacuum line. To correct this condition, replace the vehicle's vacuum hose (MB3Z-2420-A). Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-09 for installation instructions. For claiming, use casual part 2420.
TSB 21-22932021-09-30. Service bulletin. Some 2020-2021 Explorer/Aviator hybrid vehicles may exhibit a brake pedal pulsation or vibration when the brakes are applied. The customer may state that the anti-locking brake system (ABS) system is activating without any indicators on the instrument panel cluster (IPC). This may be due to the regenerative braking software in the ABS module. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure Steps to perform a coordinated flash on the powertrain control module (PCM) and ABS module.
SSM 500642021-09-04. Service bulletin. Some 2013-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit noise when the brakes are applied.
20B512021-03-03. Service bulletin. In some of the affected vehicles, the Electric Brake Booster (EBB) may contain a cracked solenoid valve plunger that may break and move out of position. A dislocated valve plunger may lead to the driver experiencing any of the following symptoms: Hard brake pedal, over-braking condition, and if certain other conditions are present, longer brake pedal travel with an incremental increase in stopping distance that would be accompanied by a red brake warning indicator lamp on the instrument panel cluster
TSB 21-20302021-03-02. Service bulletin. Some 2020-2021 Explorer/Aviator/Police Interceptor Utility vehicles built on or before 24-Dec-2020 may exhibit an illuminated anti-lock brake system (ABS) warning indicator lamp with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C0020 stored in the ABS module. It may not be necessary to replace the ABS module/hydraulic control unit (HCU) to resolve DTC C0020. This may be due to a poor ground connection and/or improper plating on the attachment bolts at G108. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace and properly tighten the ground cable fasteners.
TSB 21-20172021-02-04. Service bulletin. This article supersedes TSB 20-2364 to update the production fix date. Some 2020 Explorer/Aviator/Police Interceptor Utility vehicles built on or before 24-Dec-2020 may exhibit an illuminated anti-lock brake system (ABS) warning indicator lamp with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C0020 stored in the ABS module. It may not be necessary to replace the ABS module/hydraulic control unit (HCU) to resolve DTC C0020. This may be due to a poor ground connection and/or improper plating on the attachment bolts at G108.
