What is wrong

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Lincoln Navigator, 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus, 2025 Lincoln Aviator and Explorer vehicles. The Image Processing Module A (IPMA) may experience multiple unexpected resets, resulting in loss of the rearview camera image and advanced driver assistance (ADAS) features, including pre-collision assist, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.

What can happen

Loss of the rearview camera image and certain driver assistance features, can reduce the driver’s ability to detect hazards, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

The Image Processing Module A software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. This is a Phased campaign. SSM 538632025-06-11. Service bulletin. Some 2025 Explorer/Aviator vehicles may exhibit driver assistance feature warning messages displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Additionally, some modules may store invalid data/lost communication diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). The image processing module A (IPMA) should not store these DTCs. This condition may be due to the software in the IPMA causing no communication on the network. To restore communication/function, download and run the "IPMA - Image Processing Module A (IPMA) Recovery" app in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) tool, then "Trusted Real-Time Operation Network (TRON) Module Authentication" following FDRS screen instructions. Next, download and run the "IPMA - Image Processing Module A (IPMA) Alignment" app, recheck DTCs and confirm that all warning messages are cleared from the IPC. For vehicles equipped with a 360 degree camera, perform the "360 Degree View Camera Alignment" procedure in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 413-13. If these steps correct the condition, release the vehicle back to the customer.
SSM 538622025-06-11. Service bulletin. Some 2025 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may experience a "Cross Traffic Alert/Side Obstacle Detection Fault" message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B15D9:78 stored in the SODL and/or DTC B159C:78 stored in the SODR. Before proceeding with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics in Section 419-04, raise the vehicle and carefully inspect both the SODL and SODR modules for proper attachment on the mounting sheet metal, ensure all clips are fully seated (module properly attached) and repair as necessary.
SSM 521342023-12-19. Service bulletin. Various 2021-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with the rear camera on demand feature may exhibit a Please Check Surroundings For Safety or Full View Not Available message when the rear camera button is pressed and the vehicle is not in reverse. Inform customers this condition is considered normal operation and does not affect vehicle durability because the full rear view camera image can only be shown when the vehicle is in reverse. No additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition.
SSM 521252023-12-11. Service bulletin. Some 2024 Nautilus vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3000:49 in the camera module-rear (CMR) when a diagnostic self-test is performed. This may be due to the system triggering a shared variable and then enters a timeout reset process. The history state DTC U3000:49 has no effect on functionality. Replacement or reprogramming of the CMR will not resolve this condition. Engineering is currently working on a solution and a software update is expected in Q2 2024. Continue to monitor OASIS for additional information.

SSM 517762023-07-12. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E/F-150, 2022-2023 Expedition/Navigator and 2023 Corsair vehicles may exhibit a Driver Monitoring Camera Blocked message and/or DTCs B115E:97, B15E1:97 and/or B15E2:97 stored in the driver status monitor camera module (CMR). These DTCs should be disregarded unless it is a DTC with a status byte 8F. Other status bytes should be disregarded as they may be caused by a camera obstruction such as driver position, aftermarket devices or dust on the camera. To clear the DTCs, remove anything obstructing the view of the camera and light emitting diodes (LEDs), place the steering wheel in the center position and close the driver door. Connect Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and clear the DTCs. Turn the ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Turn the ignition on and wait 1 minute. Perform the CMR self-test and reevaluate if DTCs persist.
