For concerns of a door latch (or latches) not locking/unlocking or the outside door handle is inoperative at low ambient temperatures, perform normal diagnostic procedures to determine if the latch is affected by cold weather. If it has been determined that the latch is affected by water entry that freezes and causes the latch to fail or intermittently malfunction, replace the latch. If a latch cap (Figure 1) is installed on the old latch, install the cap on the replacement latch. If the cap is not installed order the cap and install it on the new latch.

Install cap (shield,) for the door latch as listed in ETKA. Apply a spray lubricant to the door latch and retest operation.

After vehicle has been driven over 10 MPH, place shifter in park, switch off ignition, open driver door, and verify all other doors unlock.

If key blade is found to stick or bind when opening or closing, check position of roll pin that secures key blade to mechanism. If roll pin is sticking out on either side (as shown below), do not replace key. Instead, use appropriate sized punch and hammer to drive in the roll pin so that it is flush with edge of mechanism.

When installing a front door seal, make sure the L or R (depending on side) printed on the seal lines up with the center of the radius of the upper rear corner. When seal is installed in this manner, the splice should be within +/- 50 mm of the door arrestor.
