Service bulletins for the 2007 Volkswagen GTI

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Technical Bulletin (Oil Consumption Measurement): Customer states oil consumption is higher than the Volkswagen oil consumption standard of up to 0.5 quarts per 600 miles, or 0.5 liters per 1000 km. In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. This document informs of oil consumption tests to check a vehicles performance.

Tech Tips 92006-2014 Vehicles with 2.0T Gasoline Engine - N75 Solenoid Valve Diagnosis): When diagnosis on the above engine leads to the testing of the N75, please refer this document with graphical aid. The diagram shows which vacuum ports on the N75 valve should hold vacuum and which ones should not. Turbocharger fault codes P0299 and P0234 can be diagnosed using this test.
TT 45-09-032017-12-05. Service bulletin. STEERING. Tech Tips (Electro - Steering issues): If, after replacement of the steering rack, fault code 01309 008 is set in the ABS/ESP module only, follow the test plan in GFF for Driver Steering Recommendation (DSR) or channel 3 activation. If the test plan fails to clear the fault, follow the directions in this document
TT 57-10-112017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Tech Tips (Comfort Module (J393) or BCM (J519) Replacement): This document informs If a comfort or body control module is replaced during normal diagnosis, make sure the factory mode has been switched OFF. This can be accomplished by selecting the test plan through GFF or through Vehicle Self Diagnosis in adaptation channel 99. Failure to deactivate factory mode will create a concern where the door locks will not lock and/or unlock with the switch and/or the remotes.
V171403 20178132017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Refer to the Owners Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, the ambient temperature and road conditions. Further factors include the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. This document discusses the "Fault Codes" necessary to diagnosis, and potential remedy of the issue. The fault codes for checking warranty coverage for servicing the vehicle are also available.
