Service bulletins for the 2000 Volkswagen GTI

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

TT6414022023-07-31. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM:REAR WINDOW:ELECTRICAL HEATING ELEMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH; UNKNOWN OR OTHER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. To detect which line(s) is inoperative, utilize a volt meter to check for 0 V, which will be present after the open in the grid line. The check must be performed with the engine running and heated rear window switched on. Switch OFF the ignition and visually locate the damage. Proceed with checking any other lines as necessary. Once the damaged line is identified, repair utilizing the Repair kit by Permatex® ITEM 09117.
TT5713022023-07-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:ANTI-THEFT:IMMOBILIZER/PROXIMITY:KEY/SENDER. If key blade is found to stick or bind when opening or closing, check position of roll pin that secures key blade to mechanism. If roll pin is sticking out on either side (as shown below), do not replace key. Instead, use appropriate sized punch and hammer to drive in the roll pin so that it is flush with edge of mechanism.
TT0014032023-07-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:BLUETOOTH/WIFI; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. When performing SVM updates, the scan tool should be hardwired to the vehicle and the Bluetooth physically turned off. A hard wired internet connection is also recommended.

TT8710052023-06-13. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. For concerns of no or intermittent A/C operation where pressure diagnosis does not lead to a cause, be sure to check the N25 A/C clutch coil. The fan control module may send a brief voltage signal to the clutch and then shut it off due to an open or high resistance in the coil circuit. The coil resistance should be between 3.5 and 4.5 ohms. If the reading is high or low when checked at the fan module, be sure to double check right at the coil to rule out any wiring concerns. Additionally, check ground circuit integrity for the clutch coil.

Campaign Circula2019-04-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Emissions Service Action Circular (VR6 Engine Update ECM Software for Catalytic Converter Monitoring System): The ECM software for the catalytic converter monitoring system is too sensitive. This can cause the MIL to come on, and some vehicles may exceed Federal and/or California emissions standards. Also, in some cases this leads to unnecessary catalytic converter replacement. The corrective action taken for this issue was to Update ECM software.
