Service bulletins for the 2012 Volkswagen Eos

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

975 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

TT6112012023-07-31. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:TRUNK LID:LOCK; STRUCTURE:CRITICAL FASTENERS. Some 2012 EOS convertible tops may not function properly during opening or closing. The trunk lock operation may not complete, which can cause trunk to be inoperative and/or parcel shelf flaps to remain open when top opening cycle has completed. This may affect the G562, G563, or G564 sensors when running the test plan or looking at MVB 2. The guide bushing at the back of the lock mechanism (location circled in figure 1 below) may not align with the guide pin mounted on the body. It is necessary to remove trim on lock mechanism to inspect guide bushing. Misalignment of lock mechanism can cause damage to the guide bushing. The lock mechanism will need to be adjusted and the guide bushing replaced in most instances.

Under these situations the seals cannot withstand the amount of pressure generated (up to 3500 PSI). Also it may be likely in a heavy rain for there to be an occasional seepage. This should not be severe, but is possible due to the external sealing of the hardtop.
