Be sure to review the entire content of this bulletin before proceeding. Flash reprogramming allows the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) software to be updated without replacing the ECU. Flash calibration updates for specific vehicle models/ECUs are released as field-fix procedures described in individual Service Bulletins. This bulletin details the Techstream ECU flash reprogramming process and outlines use of the Technical Information System (TIS) and the Calibration Update Wizard (CUW). Flash calibration updates can only be applied to the vehicle/ECU combination for which they are intended. ECUs have internal security that will not allow them to be programmed with another ECU?s information. NOTE ECU is a Toyota term used to describe integrated computerized devices responsible for managing the operation of a system or subsystem. For the purposes of this bulletin, the term ?ECU? is used as a generic label for the following SAE J1930 standard references: ? Powertrain Control Module (PCM) ? Engine Control Module (ECM) ? Any previous printed versions of this bulletin should be discarded. The procedure in this Service Bulletin is a full reformat of the multimedia system. Failure to follow the procedure exactly as written may cause damage to the head unit. This reformatting changes the system from a Phase 2 to a Phase 3 system, which includes Apple CarPlay® and Amazon Alexa?. This reformat requires all linked files and folders extracted from the zip file to be placed onto the root directory of the USB flash drive, otherwise damage to the head unit will occur. NOTE ? This procedure is a two-part process that includes an automatic file download from the USB flash drive once it is inserted into the USB port. Once the headlight flash step is performed, the system will begin the installation of the downloaded files. ? Performing this update may change certain head unit operation conditions. Some 2016 ? 2018 model year Prius, 2017 ? 2018 model year Prius Prime, 2018 model year Camry Hybrid, and 2019 model year Avalon Hybrid vehicles may exhibit an intermittent condition where it is difficult to refuel. This condition may be caused by the fuel filler door not opening completely, or interference between the fuel filler nozzle splash guard and the fuel door lock switch. If the fuel filler door does not open completely, or if interference occurs, the fuel vapor containment valve may return to a closed position after pressing the fuel door opening button. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

TT: Safety Connect is a vehicle option which requires a subscription fee for the system to be active after the initial trial period. Once the subscription has expired the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) will be in an inactive state. In some instances, a DCM may need to be replaced even though the customer is not using the service. If registration of the replacement DCM part is attempted using the Techstream utility after the account has become inactive, the registration will fail, and messages such as ?ATX webserver is Down? or ?ATX error? will be displayed.

TT: The blind spot monitor (BSM) sensor angle inspection is used to confirm that the BSM sensor is within the specified angle before performing axis beam adjustment. When used in conjunction with the repair manual, these BSM tips leverage SSTs and readily available tools to support sensor angle confirmation in varying shop environments.
T-SB-0047-192019-05-13. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. TSB: Some 2018 ? 2019 model year Toyota vehicles equipped with the Entune? 3.0 Premium Audio Navigation System require a Special Service Tool (SST) USB flash drive to update the map, points of interest, and system software. The SST is used with applicable vehicles to deliver the update; however, the process for generating license keys differs from previous generations. Before attempting to perform a map update, the head unit?s expiration date must be checked. If the expiration date is still valid, a license key may be generated without the use of an activation card number. Updating the maps without the use of an activation card number is considered an Embedded Navigation Update (refer to pg. 9), and performing this process does not extend the duration of telematic map services. If the head unit?s expiration date is expired, or is expiring within the next 90 days, it should be recommended to the customer to purchase an activation number. Utilizing an activation number will initiate a Dynamic Navigation Update (refer to pg. 2). This Dynamic Navigation Update will perform the Embedded Navigation Update and provide telematic map services for a period of two years from the day that the Dynamic Navigation Update is performed. Activation card numbers are provided in an activation card number pamphlet available through the normal parts ordering system. Follow the process in this bulletin to perform the update. NOTE Map data is released once each year through the shipment of an SST USB flash drive to each dealer. The SST MUST be stored in the SST cabinet to ensure it can be easily found

Under a specific condition, this software may not detect a malfunctioning sensor due to an error in the software. As a result, affected vehicles do not meet certain onboard diagnostic (OBD) regulations.

TSB: Some 2018 model year Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles and 2019 model year Avalon and Avalon Hybrid vehicles may exhibit a brake squeal/squeak noise from the front brake components. For customers who find these characteristics objectionable, an updated brake caliper is now available as a service part.

Difficulty to pair the phone. ? Intermittent Bluetooth® failure to connect to the vehicle when first turning on the vehicle. ? Various Bluetooth® Audio functions are no longer functioning with customer?s phone such as ability to change the track using the steering wheel controls. These concerns can be caused by changes made on the customer?s phone. Make sure to inquire with the customer if the connectivity concerns occurred after receiving an operating system update on their phone, or if they have restored their phone data/settings recently.
