Recalls that may apply to the 2008 Thomas Built HDX

A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups.

By component

Canada: Transport Canada, as of 2026-10-19
20152912015-06-29. Structure. On certain school buses, the stem which joins the outside emergency door handle to the emergency door opening mechanism may potentially corrode. Excessive material loss of the stem due to corrosion could result in the outside handle separating from the door mechanism while trying to open the door from the exterior of the bus. In the event of an emergency, this could delay evacuation of the vehicle and increase the risk of injury to occupants. Correction: Dealers will inspect the stems and either replace or protect them against further corrosion.
20084172008-11-19. Electrical. On certain buses, circuit breakers may trip unnecessarily resulting in a loss of power to chassis and body electrical circuits. Unexpected loss of exterior lighting and/or engine stalling, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reaction, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the solid state dual power switch with mechanical circuit protection (Mega Fuse).
20082942008-08-19. Other. On certain buses equipped with a Ricon "S" or "K" series wheelchair lift platform, the threshold warning system may not detect the presence of a wheelchair/mobility aid user in a certain area within the defined threshold area. This scenario could cause personal injuries to a user. Correction: Dealers will replace the threshold warning system metal covers & optical sensors.
20082012008-06-09. Suspension. On certain motorhomes, the rear suspension transverse beam may have been manufactured incorrectly. Should it fail, vehicle stability while cornering would be affected, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash with personal injury or death. In addition, the transverse beam could drop to the ground causing sparks that could create a fire hazard. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transverse beam assembly.
20080642008-02-22. Other. On certain school buses, the rear emergency exit exterior door handle may be severely weakened over time by corrosion. In the event of an emergency, a person on the outside of the bus may break the door handle trying to open the emergency exit, potentially delaying evacuation and increasing the risk of personal injury to the vehicle's occupants. Correction: Dealers will replace the aluminium handles with more robust versions.
20073862007-12-03. Electrical. On certain buses, the Type II auto reset circuit breaker temperatures may exceed the rating of the circuit board. This could cause the board to melt, potentially resulting in a vehicle fire. If this occurs while the vehicle is underway, it could cause a vehicle crash resulting in property damage and/or personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the auto reset circuit breakers with manual circuit breakers and jumper cables.
20072312007-07-11. Brakes. On certain vehicles, the internal rubber check valve inside the Bendix SR-7 spring brake modulating valve can become deformed over time. The effect of this defect is intermittent and presents a potential delay or failure in applying the parking brakes; potentially resulting in a vehicle roll away. Should this occur, the unattended roll away vehicle could strike a bystander or cause property damage. Correction: Dealers will install a check valve repair kit.
20072292007-07-11. Steering. On certain vehicles, the fasteners that attach the steering arm or tie rod arm to the spindle may have been over or under tightened during assembly process. Incorrectly torqued steering arm fasteners may fatigue and fracture, possibly causing a crash without warning. Correction: Dealers will inspect fasteners and apply correct tightening torque.

A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
