Service bulletins for the 2014 Subaru BRZ
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 02-170-17R | 2019-05-20. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:STARTER ASSEMBLY:SOLENOID; ENGINE. This bulletin announces part information for new Active Valve Control System (AVCS) oil control solenoid valves (OCV) which contain a redesigned internal oil seal. The new seal will eliminate potential oil seepage into the wire harness connector portion of the valve. If oil seeps into the connector, over time, the Check Engine lamp may illuminate and set various AVCS-related DTCs. |
| 02-133-12R | 2019-03-11. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. The purpose of this bulletin is to clarify the proper installation direction of the valve springs used on the FA engine. The springs have a light blue paint mark identifier as shown in the chart below. |
| 09-54-12R | 2019-02-25. Service bulletin. ENGINE; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. This bulletin provides a procedure to address customer concerns of a high-pitched ?chirp?, ?squeak? or ?cricket? sound heard coming from the engine?s Direct Injection (DI) high-pressure fuel pump. Not all DI pumps may exhibit this sound. Some vehicles may have components which in combination with certain fuel temperatures and / or formulations, may result in aeration of the fuel within the body of the pump and cause this sound. This result is non-detrimental to the vehicle. Production changes have been made to eliminate the source of the sound. |
| 09-54-12R | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE. |
| 07-133-18 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE. This Service Information Bulletin announces design changes to the engine?s knock sensor which will help improve vehicle assembly line efficiency and increase durability. In some cases, the Check Engine light may illuminate and a knock sensor-related DTC set in the ECM memory: P0327, P0328, P0332 and P0333. The knock sensor for DIT engines is now utilized for NA engines to improve durability and resistance to heat. |
| 03-80-18 | 2018-06-18. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This Service Information bulletin announces a change to the flywheel (pilot) bearing to a ?environmentally friendly? type which is compliant with the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of CHemicals) guidelines being used in the European Union (EU). This change is not intended to address any specific customer concern. |
| 09-54-12R | 2018-04-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This bulletin provides a procedure to address customer concerns of a high-pitched "chirp", "squeak" or "cricket" sound heard coming from the engine's Direct Injection (DI) high-pressure fuel pump. IMPORTANT: A "clack" or mechanical "ticking" sound also made by operation of the highpressure fuel pump is considered to be a normal operating characteristic and no attempt should be made to repair it. |
| 02-170-17 | 2018-04-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. |
| 07-120-17R | 2018-04-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE. This Service Information Bulletin announces design changes made to the ignition coil and engine wiring harness in response to a limited number of cases related to the ignition coil primary / secondary DTCs listed above. The changes involve a shape change to the harness connector on the coil and to the corresponding engine harness connector. A positive lock mechanism has also been added to the engine harness ignition coil connectors to reduce the chances of becoming disconnected and causing a driveability concern and / or DTC(s). |
| 12-200-16 | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; STRUCTURE. Since the introduction of the BRZ, there have been a number of revisions to the rear combination lamps and their sealing gaskets (a.k.a. packing) to address varying customer concerns. Conditions ranging from the accumulation of water and condensation, to insect intrusion and lens / body cracking have all been addressed in previous bulletins. Recently, concerns about a cloudy appearance of the lens have created yet another bulletin. To help better organize these publications, all the related bulletins are being been condensed into this new release putting all the information in one place for easier reference. As listed in their chronological order, design changes and procedures have been developed to address customer concerns of: ? Condition 1: Condensation accumulation- inspection for possible cracking of lamp housing ? Condition 2: Condensation accumulation- flange (retaining) nut change for combination lamp assy. to prevent rear body panel distortion and increased gasket (packing) thickness to improve sealing. ? Condition 3: Trunk lid contacting (and in isolated cases cracking) the combination lamp assy. when closing- change to the trunk stoppers and trunk weatherstrip ? Condition 4: Insect intrusion inside the combination lamps- further revision to the lamp assy. and gasket ? Condition 5: Cloudy appearance of the lens- anti-fog coating applied at production to the inside of combination lamp lens. |
| 02-166-17R | 2017-09-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This bulletin outlines design changes made to the upper oil pan assembly on FA and FB engines used on the models listed above. There have been isolated cases where the sealer used between the upper oil pan and the crankcase has become displaced resulting in engine oil seepage. Revisions made to the upper oil pan casting: * The mating flange thickness of the casting in the area identified as the cause for the seepage has been increased by 5.5mm. (See images provided in the Parts Information section below.) This thickness increase creates the need for a longer bolt to provide proper tightening and retention. * An additional mounting point has been added to the ribbing inside the casting to increase retention of the steel baffle plate and eliminate vibration. |
