90038202022-07-25. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:GEARS; EQUIPMENT. Shifter Tower If you are working on a vehicle with a noise/rattle or noise/vibration complaint in 5th or 6th gear on decel, the field has had success by simply removing and reinstalling the shift tower from the transmission. Leaving the boot on the tower of the shifter intact, remove the two external boots first to get to the shifter tower. Please attempt this repair first if you have this concern. Follow the service instructions to ensure proper installation of the tower.

Upon further investigation the technician may find the following Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) has been set::If the customer has any concerns with the transfer case or if the tech performs any repairs on the transfer case, the software must be updated.C140E - Transfer Case Motor Blocked. If DTC C140E is present, follow normal diagnostic procedures before updating the DTCM.In addition the customer may describe the following:The ?Service 4WD? message/fault is displayed in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). Rear Axle Vibration, Shudder Or Chatter This bulletin involves changing the rear axle lube to possibly address a chatter, shudder or vibration. The customer may describe the following: A chatter, shudder, or vibration from the rear axle during turns. This may happen more as the vehicle ages, especially if the vehicle is used extensively for towing or hauling heavy loads. The cause of the concern may be due to degradation of the rear axle fluid. It is very important to follow the routine maintenance schedules on these vehicles when it comes to changing the rear axlefluid if the vehicle is used primarily for towing or hauling heavy loads. If you experience a vehicle with the above condition, please perform the proper maintenance procedures for the rear axle and replace the fluid first before replacing any hardware components.This service bulletin is only applicable to vehicles that have no history of an axle fluid replacement. If the vehicle usage includes police, taxi, fleet, off-road or frequent trailer towing, regular axle fluid changes are required every2 years or 20,000 miles (whichever comes first) per the Maintenance Schedule in the vehicle Owner's Manual.
