Service bulletins for the 2015 Ram 1500
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Transmission Oil Pan, Heater (TMU), Tube or O-ring Applies to vehicles equipped with 8 speed transmissions only; if you have a leak that appears to be at the pan the use of proper leak detection is recommended. The fluid in the 8 speeds can be detected with a black light and there are aftermarket spray on leak detection materials to help ensure that the leak is properly diagnosed and not from another location such as cooler lines, heater tubes, or case porosity. Please note that the transmission pan gasket is available for many of the 8 speed applications FCA offers. Please review the available quick connect and transfer tube parts, as replacement of the TMU may not be required. If a TOC line connection is found to be the source, the quick connect may need replacement. If the leak source is coming from the connection of the TMU to the transmission, the transfer tube may need replacement. When parts are returned to the QEC the retaining clips (snap ring) for the quick disconnect fittings are missing. (This leaves a question as to whether the clips were missing from the assembly plant, or the technician removed them in order to make line removal easier.) Please return the clips with the transmission heater and note if they were not there to begin with. For any questions regarding transmission heater, contact FCA Redacted Content. If no response in 15 minutes, proceed with repair. |

| 18-015-15 | 2022-09-26. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; POWER TRAIN. Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illumination And/Or Intermittent No Crank No Start This bulletin involves inspecting the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) system for excessive water and/or ice and drying the CAC components if needed. It also involves installing a winter front cover. A small number of customers may experience a MIL illumination when ambient temperatures fall below 32°F (0 °C). Upon further inspection, a technician may find the ? P0299 - Turbocharger Underboost Condition ? U1424 - Implausible Engine Torque Signal Received In addition, a customer vehicle may come in with a no crank/no start. This may have occurred after the vehicle has been driven for an extended period of time in extremely low ambient and then allowed to sit overnight. Further diagnosis may indicate a possible inoperative starter. A possible cause of these concerns may be contributed to internal icing of the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) system and intake manifold. Icing will occur because warm, moist air from the turbo charger is being rapidly cooled and the moisture is then condensed into liquid by the CAC. The liquid is then distributed into the rest of the intake system, which is operating at ambient temperature, where it will then freeze. Vehicles that are driven for extended periods of time are susceptible to higher amounts of ice build up within the intake manifold. Once the vehicle is turned off and allowed to sit, the ice formation in the intake will begin to melt due to the elevated underhood temperatures. The moisture will then run down the intake runners and accumulate in the combustion chamber through an open intake valve causing the engine to hydro-lock. To help prevent icing in the CAC system when the vehicle is operated in low ambient temperatures, it is highly recommended that the vehicle have winter front cover installed. This raises the CAC outlet temperatures above freezing which will help reduce condensation build up. |

| 9004009 | 2022-09-26. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Transmission Kit with Torque Converter 1. All Promaster (VF) 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the transmission bracket to the transmission case fasteners are removed during servicing, the fasteners (Part Number 06511385A$) are one-time usage. Vehicles built prior to 10/23/2015 requires Service Kit PN 68461214AA; includes Transmission Isolator PN 68264483AA, and Adaptation Bracket 68264479AA and Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA Vehicles built after on or after 10/23/2015 will require only the Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA. 2. All 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the vehicle you are repairing has a crack in the flex plate or failed pump bushing inspect and confirm that both (2) dowel pins are present in the engine block, which align the transmission center line to the crank shaft centerline and visually inspect the dowel alignment holes in the transmission case. If the holes are damaged or elongated the transmission should be replaced to prevent further damage to the transmission/flexplate or pump bushing due to the inability to properly align the engine to the transmission during the repair. 3. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If pump bushing is scored or damaged and the dowel pin alignment holes are ok, replace the pump assembly as opposed to complete transmission. 4. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If vehicle is jerking/slipping with MIL code(s) P0740 or P2764, check TCC Solenoid operation. If TCC Solenoid is ok, the codes are indicative of a torque converter failure. Replace the torque converter. |

| 5RR541XRA | 2022-08-22. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; VISIBILITY; PARKING BRAKE. Power Fold Rearview Mirror Prior to replacing this part for a loose mirror, please first follow this procedure to reset the pivot mechanism. Move the mirror to its full forward position and then to full retract position using the power fold mirror button located on drivers side door panel. Perform this procedure three times. If this doesn't resolve the issue, then repair as necessary.~ Note: 1- The looseness of power fold mirror does not necessary indicate a defective mirror, it may be caused by folding it manually rather than using the power fold feature. If the mirror is adjusted manually out of the proper detent, always use the button to adjust it back into sync.~ 2- The intended use of the power fold mirrors is by pushing the button to fold and unfold the mirror. Only manually fold the mirrors when absolutely necessary.~ 3- In the circumstance where the left hand mirror and right hand mirror are in different positions, it may take up to three cycles (bottom pushes) to re-sync the mirrors together. |

| 9003669 | 2022-08-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN. Auto Trans Rotary Electronic Shifter The rotary shifter is designed to actuate a motor within the device whenever the driver places their foot on the brake, with the car in Park (or Neutral). This generates a noise with each brake press/release. Therefore, even after replacing the shifter for a noise complaint, the replacement part will also have a characteristic noise generated whenever the driver steps on the brake. Before performing a repair procedure for a noise complaint, please perform a subjective analysis of the noise coming from the rotary shifter. If the shifter noise is deemed abnormal sound (has an uncharacteristic buzz or grind), please proceed with normal replacement procedure. If so equipped, record the sound with a handheld microphone, or cell phone, and if noise is above 54dB @ 30cm away from the knob, please proceed with normal replacement procedure. For any further questions, please contact Theodore Kahiya at cell (519) 300-2443. |
