Service bulletins for the 2017 Porsche Panamera

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Information: The Approval and Support Management system was created to offer assistance to the dealer organization with new and complex technical issues by utilizing the Support Specialists within Porsche R&D. As a result, this process has reduced vehicle downtime and repeat repairs substantially.
122-G6M3G-062018-06-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; EQUIPMENT. Symptom: The filler flap/charge port door is difficult to open or close. Cause: The filler flap/charge port door may be difficult to actuate due to unfavorable component tolerances on the affected vehicles. Remedial Action: Replace the filler flap/charge port door and rework it if necessary (if there is a visible edge) before fitting.
122-A2R4B-062018-06-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN. There is a possibility that the pressure hose between the charge-air cooler and throttle valve for cylinders 4?6 is rubbing against the cooling fan housing on the affected vehicles. This can cause a leak in the pressure hose at the chafing point over the service life of the vehicle. This will result in reduced engine power and the Check Engine light will be activated.
122-R6Y8J-052018-05-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Condition The customer experiences an interruption in Apple CarPlay service after selecting the reverse gear. In other words, after the PCM screen displays the reverse camera, the PCM screen will not display Apple CarPlay until the user resets the PCM (perhaps by cycling the ignition).
122-Z4H5Q-052018-05-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. There are two potential issues related to PASM Control units in the Panamera (971) for which an updated part has been released. One may be experienced by the customer and the other by the workshop. 1. If programming is interrupted while performing the WH29 service action, the control unit may become unresponsive and cannot be communicated with or reprogrammed.
122-D9R9E-042018-04-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. This Technical Information is intended as a supplement to the existing information in the event of complaints about data processing or data transfer between the Porsche Diagnostic Key and reader. The list provided here is sorted according to possible faults and is not a complete list. The Porsche Diagnostic Key functions are used for the first time with the Porsche Panamera (971). Remote vehicle key/hand-held transmitters from other Porsche models or earlier model years cannot be read out.
122-A7E7V-032018-03-13. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Customer Concern: The remote key battery is dead before its expected end of life. Technical Concern: The technician confirms this behavior. Service Information: For vehicles built before 8/19/2017, the key itself is defective and the battery likely performs as expected. In this case, replace the key.
122-F3H8X-112017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Subject: Air-conditioning system function Situation: Customers complain that the air conditioning does not function at times or after starting it. The air conditioning does not turn on or is turned off if the state of charge of the high-voltage battery is very low and also if the battery is not sufficiently charged while driving.
122-N9F6H-012017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Information: The customer complains that certain functions of the front camera are not available at times: * Lane Change Assist not available * Porsche Dynamic Light System not available * Traffic sign recognition not available Cause: Image sensor fault in the front camera. Insufficient contrast causes certain functions to fail at times.
122-U8Z7N-112017-10-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Snow chains: ? have been tested and approved for the rear axle of the Panamera (971). The fitting of snow chains on the front axle is NOT permitted! ? have plastic elements (clips, eyelets and sleeve on the spring steel clip) to protect the rim from damage. ? can be fitted easily in the narrow wheel housing on the rear axle using the spring steel clip. ? can be repaired by retail outlets if necessary.
122-J9V3S-082017-10-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Subject: Rear spoiler Information: The clamping nut on the connecting link on the rear spoiler can become loose:
122-K2J2Y-082017-10-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Subject: Front air bellows Symptom: After the vehicle has been parked for a long time at temperatures below 5° F (-15° C), the chassis can be lowered fully at the front axle.
122-W6E3D-032017-10-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. No cooling in the passenger compartment. NOTE: A low state of charge of the High Voltage Battery can cause the AC to be deactivated until the state of charge increases to an adequate level. Customers who do not plug their vehicle in on a regular basis may have this issue. There are two shut off valves in the refrigeration circuit. 1. The chiller shut off valve is normally open and requires 12V be applied to it from the AC control unit to close it. This would stop cooling of the high voltage battery. a. Power and ground from the AC CU can be checked at the connector of the valve. 2. The evaporator shut off valve is normally closed and requires 12V to be applied to it, via a relay, in order for the valve to open and provide cooling to the passenger compartment. a. The evaporator shut off valve can be diagnosed easily by removing the relay and jumping the load contacts of the relay to see if power makes it to the valve. Power at the valve opens it and the evaporator gets cold with normal AC operation. b. The relay winding circuit can be tested for power and ground from the AC CU.
122-L5E3H-102017-10-15. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Symptom: The rear lid cannot be locked. The rear lid soft closing function does not work. Cause: The rear-lid lock activation time of 400 ms is too short. Remedial Action: The rear-lid lock activation time will be increased to 1,000 ms.
122-Z5N4D-052017-10-15. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Information: Seam sealer on the production line was manually applied in the early vehicles. Symptom: As a result of seam sealer being applied manually, an imperfection could allow water to leak into the passenger compartment.
122-H7B7W-092017-09-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Information: Very small leaks may not be found on a normal inspection. Extra effort to locate these leaks is required.
122-N3Y2E-092017-09-14. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Symptom: The proximity sensor in the door handle does not function even though the driver's key is in range. ? The vehicle cannot be locked using the proximity sensor in the door handle.
122-V4Y4C-092017-09-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH. Information: An emergency release module, in which the material composition of the axial shaft for the emergency release actuator does not meet the required torsional rigidity, was installed in the driver's door on the affected vehicles. As a result, the vehicle cannot be opened using the emergency key. Remedial Action: Replace emergency release module in the driver's door.
