NTB15013C2021-05-10. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:CVT; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT. IMPORTANT: Metal debris and friction material may become trapped in the radiator, cooling hoses, bypass valve or external CVT fluid cooler. This debris can contaminate the newly serviced transmission, control valve or torque converter. In severe cases this debris can block or restrict flow and may cause damage to the newly serviced CVT. SERVICE INFORMATION When a CVT, control valve or torque converter replacement is necessary for one of the applied vehicles, the CVT transmission fluid coolers (radiator based fluid cooler and external auxiliary cooler if present) must be flushed. Please see this bulletin for further details.

SERVICE INFORMATION The information in this bulletin is provided to help ensure correct diagnosis and repair of fluid leaks. All fluid leaks, when properly diagnosed, should be repaired (whether under warranty or customer pay) to ensure proper vehicle operation. However, certain normal operating conditions can be misdiagnosed as a leak requiring repair. Unnecessary repair or replacement of parts in connection with incorrectly diagnosed "leaks" can negatively impact customer satisfaction, be time consuming and costly, and if not performed correctly can lead to future repairs. NTB13077A2021-05-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:CVT. SERVICE INFORMATION Applied vehicles equipped with a CVT have a "cap" that appears to be a fluid level gauge. This "cap" will NOT have a gauge or "dipstick". This is normal. Do NOT replace the "cap" because it is thought to have a "dipstick". The fluid level is not checked from this location. The fluid level for applied vehicles is checked from the oil pan (refer to the appropriate section of the Electronic Service Manual [ESM]). Whenever checking, filling, or topping off a CVT's fluid level of an applied vehicle for any reason, use the procedure outlined in the appropriate section of the ESM. Nissan is conducting a Dealer Service Action to replace the CVT and reprogram/calibrate the TCM on a limited number of certain specific 2013-14 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles that are currently in dealerThere are 67 eligible vehicles remaining in dealer inventory for this service action. 39 CVTs were shipped last week and have already begun arriving at dealers. Please refer to the attached list for current and planned shipments.

CVT Software Update/Warranty Extension Parts Update 2 ***** Parts Update***** Campaign Bulletin NTB16-0120 has been revised to address a part change (in the event that parts are needed) and is now available on NNAnet, ASIST & Dealer360. o Valve Body Kit (3170E29X9C) will now include the Control Valve Assembly, Automatic Transmission Oil Strainer Assembly, Bracket, Band, Oil Pan Gasket, and Lip Seal. o The control valve assembly is only available in kit form, but the oil strainer assembly, bracket, band, oil pan gasket and lip seal will remain available for purchase separately. The previously announced restriction on remanufactured CVT assemblies will be lifted on March 24, 2017. Parts will be available for order via normal process after that date. Orders placed via DCS prior to that date will be filled.

CVT Software Update/Warranty Extension Voluntary Service Campaign ***** Campaign Summary***** Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign to reprogram the Transmission Control Module (TCM) to improve CVT service diagnostics. This diagnostic software update will enhance the dealer's ability to diagnose customer concerns regarding Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) operation; it does not repair any symptoms nor alter the drive characteristics of the vehicle. Specifically, the diagnostic logic will store two new Diagnostic Trouble Codes when "Judder" symptoms occur on vehicles. - P17F0 - "Judder" caused by belt slip - PF171 - "Judder" caused by control valve In addition to the installation of diagnostic software, Nissan will also extend the warranty coverage on the CVT assembly (including internal CVT components, gaskets, and seals), CVT control valve body, and torque converter from its original duration of 60 months/60,000 miles to 84 months/84,000 miles (whichever occurs first). Coverage of other vehicle components remains unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissan's New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. This CVT warranty extension is being provided as a customer satisfaction effort to address customer concerns; including those concerns expressed by plaintiffs in class action litigation, and is subject to final approval of the settlement of that litigation. In the interim, Nissan will make any necessary repairs that would be covered under the extended CVT warranty.

This service will be performed at no charge to the customer for parts or labor. IDENTIFICATION NUMBER Nissan has assigned identification number PC500 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign. DEALER RESPONSIBILITY Dealers are to repair vehicles falling within range of this campaign that enter the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties, vehicles presented by transient (tourists) owners, and vehicles in a dealer?s inventory.
