Service bulletins for the 2005 Nissan Frontier
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| NTB20-026 | 2020-04-08. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING. 2005-2019 FRONTIER; HIGH-MOUNTED STOP LAMP SERVICE PART SERVICE INFORMATION The mounting stud diameter for the high-mounted stop lamp service part has changed from 5 mm to a 6 mm. If for any reason the high-mounted stop lamp needs to be replaced, the mounting hole will need to be enlarged to 6.5 mm (¼ inch) as follows: 1. Remove the high-mounted stop lamp. • - For high-mounted stop lamp removal, refer to the Electronic Service Manual: Section DRIVER CONTROLS > EXTERIOR LIGHTING SYSTEM > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > STOP LAMP. 2. Enlarge the high-mounted stop lamp’s mounting holes (see Figure 1 on page 2) using a 6.5 mm (¼ inch) drill bit. NOTICE: To avoid damage to the vehicle, apply light pressure to the drill while drilling. Excessive force may cause the drill bit to penetrate too far and damage the headliner. 3. Apply touch-up paint to the mounting holes to protect the bare metal. 4. Install the new high-mounted stop lamp using M6 mounting nuts. Refer to the PARTS INFORMATION on page 2. |

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TAIL LIGHTS; EXTERIOR LIGHTING; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:FOG LIGHTS; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS:CONCEALMENT DEVICES; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS. NISSAN: EXTERIOR LAMP FOGGING. OCCASIONALLY WATER IS NOTICED IN THE EXTERIOR LAMPS. THIS IS GENERALLY NOT DUE TO A DEFECT. ALL CURRENT EXTERIOR LAMP ASSEMBLIES ARE VENTED TO THE ATMOSPHERE (NOT SEALED). THIS IS NECESSARY TO ALLOW FOR EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION OF AIR FROM TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS (WARMER OR COLDER) WITHOUT DAMAGE TO THE LAMP. MOISTURE IN THE AIR SOMETIMES TRAVELS INTO AND OUT OF THE LAMP ASSEMBLY THROUGH THESE VENTS. CERTAIN ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS MAY CAUSE MOISTURE TO CONDENSE. THE FOGGING/CLOUDINESS SHOULD DISAPPEAR OVER TIME WHEN THE LAMP IS IN A DRY ENVIRONMENT. NO MODELS LISTED. *PE UPDATED 5/7/10. *PE UPDATED 12/9/13. *PE |
