2023-02-17. Brakes. Issue: On certain vehicles, the front axle wiring harness could be damaged by contact with the auxiliary oil cooler. Safety Risk: Antilock brake (ABS) and vehicle stability control (ESP) systems that don't work correctly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect, and if necessary, replace the front axle wiring harness. The dealer will also install a protective sleeve.
2022-05-20. Other. Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with the emergency calling (eCall) system, the SIM card for the communications module could disable itself. If this happens, the eCall system would not work properly when there is a crash or when the SOS button is pressed. Safety Risk: If the eCall system does not work in an emergency situation, there could be a delay in response from emergency services. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to each vehicle. | 2021493 | 2021-08-06. Seats And Restraints. Issue: On certain vehicles, the passenger seat belt assemblies may contain defective automatic locking retractors (ALR). As a result, the seat belts may not properly lock to secure a child seat. Note: The vehicle's lower universal anchorage system (UAS) is not affected by this defect and may still be used to secure a child seat. Safety Risk: A seat belt that is used to secure a child restraint but is not properly locked could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the seat belts. They will be replaced, if necessary.
2021-05-14. Structure. Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear door locks may not latch properly. As a result, a rear door could open while driving. Also, if a person tries to forcefully open a rear door while the child safety lock is activated, the door lock could be damaged. If this happens, passengers may not be able to open the rear doors from inside the vehicle. Safety Risk: A door that opens while driving could create an increased risk of injury. A door that cannot be opened from inside the vehicle may make it difficult to get out in an emergency. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the rear door locks.
2021-04-07. Airbag. Issue: On certain vehicles, there may be a problem with the front seat position switches. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the seat position switches.
2021-02-12. Electrical. Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with the emergency calling (eCall) system, the communications module may temporarily lose power during a crash. If this happens, the wrong vehicle location may be transmitted through the eCall system. This could cause emergency responders to be sent to the wrong location. Safety Risk: If the eCall system sends out the wrong location after a crash, there could be a delay in response from emergency services. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air update to each vehicle. If the update cannot be completed successfully, you will be notified to schedule an appointment to have the update performed by a dealer.
2021-02-01. Accessories. Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the central display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the head unit software.
