Service bulletins for the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Complaint After a control unit replacement of "N112/9 - control unit for telematics services (HERMES)" or the "N112/2 - control unit for telematics services (RAMSES)", the Digital Extras (previously Mercedes me) cannot be activated. The DTC B15CE00 is active or active+saved. In vehicles with "N112/9 - control unit for telematics services (HERMES)": • The message "SOS - service not activated" permanently lights up in the instrument cluster AND the actual value "Error when replacing certificate (CEP.36)" is displayed in the actual values for the activation status under "Registration status" (see picture 1). • In the control unit log of the "N112/9 - control unit for telematics services (HERMES)", the registration error "CEP Invalid VIN/UniqueID combination" is displayed. In vehicles with "N112/2 - control unit for telematics services (RAMSES)": • The actual value "Error when replacing certificate (CEP.36)" is displayed in the actual values for the activation status under "Registration status" (see picture 1). • In the control unit log of the "N112/2 - control unit for telematics services (RAMSES)", the registration error "CEP_ VIN_UNIQUEID_INVALID" is displayed. The emergency call is not impaired. Cause In the event of a control unit replacement, sporadic problems in the back end could result in data from the new control unit not being updated in the back end system. | LI77.25-P-073749 | 2024-11-12. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Complaint Rear spoiler sporadically remains in opened position or does not extend and a fault message appears in the instrument cluster. The rear spoiler can then no longer be retracted manually using the button. The function of the rear spoiler is re-established after an ignition reset and the fault message is no longer present in the instrument cluster. Cause Possible causes: • Coding of the AMG DRIVE UNIT for recognition of Hall sensor when retracting rear spoiler. • Hardware tolerances / hardware wear Remedy If new software for the AMG DRIVE UNIT is available, carry out the software update. If the vehicle already has the most current version of the AMG DRIVE UNIT software installed, conduct SCN coding of the AMG DRIVE UNIT. Software remedy: Up to YoM 19/2 -> AMG Drive Unit N145/1 Software A001 902 6208 As of YoM 20/1 up to YoM 20/2 -> AMG Drive Unit N145/1 Software A001 902 6108 As of YoM 21/1 -> AMG Drive Unit N145/1 Software A001 902 6008 Then check the currently learned actual values under the path "DRVU -> Actual values -> Rear wing sensor system": Are the actual values all in the specified range (green): --> Subject the vehicle to a final inspection/test drive and, if the findings report is OK, hand it over to the customer. If the actual values are outside of the specified range (red) or final inspection is not OK: --> Initialize the rear spoiler (if necessary up to 5x) until all values are in the target range (green). If subsequently OK: -> Subject the vehicle to a final inspection/test drive and, if the findings report is OK, hand it over to the customer. If still not OK: -> Check screw connection of rear spoiler adjuster (see attachment 1) for tight seating. If screws loose: -> Bond loose screw (see following steps and attachment 3 to 5). 1. Unscrew screw with Torx TX25 screwdriver from the housing guide. 2. Dip screw in Loctite 603 (at least 3 threads) 3. Screw the screw back into the housing guide with 2 Nm torque. (IMPORTANT: Loctite 603 finger-tight after 8 minutes and cured after 24 hours) 4. Initialize rear spoiler after the curing time. 5. Subject the vehicle to a final inspection/test drive and, if the findings report is OK, hand it over to the customer. If screws tight: -> Create a TIPS case with the following information: 1. When exactly does the fault message appear (at which speed, when accelerating or braking, automatic mode, etc.)? 2. Is the problem sporadic or continuous? 3. Does the fault message disappear following an ignition reset/BUS idle and is the function of the rear spoiler then (momentarily) restored? 4. Is the fault reproducible and if so, how? Attach the following files: 1. Quick test 2. Control unit log for AMG DRIVE UNIT + rear wing (DRVU + HFL) 3. IC event memory 4. Currently learned actual values prior to initialization 5. Currently learned actual values following initialization 6. Power consumption of rear spoiler (XENTRY: Configuration -> Coding -> Coding of power parameter) 7. Photo of the label on the rear spoiler drive (IMPORTANT: Production/manufacturing date of the rear spoiler must be easily readable, for an example see attachment 2) |

Complaint Hand detection system not operating correctly / vehicles with code 266 Fault message in instrument cluster: "Active Emergency Stop Assist not available" "Active Lane Keeping Assist not available" Cause Possible causes: the hand detection mat, the hand detection control unit, the contacts and the steering wheel harness. Remedy Test Procedure: Perform an initial quick test with freeze frame data. Save the N179 - Hand detection system (HE) and N62/4 - Driver assistance system (SG-FAS) control unit logs. Note the fault frequency of fault codes set. Delete the N179 and N62/4 fault memory. Using both hands, "scan" the steering wheel all the way round, including the chrome molding at 6 o'clock (see Picture 1). Read out fault memory and follow steps below for any faults set. Remedy: Vehicles with control unit N179 - Hand detection system (HE): B1E7614: Check contacts and wiring harness in steering wheel by carrying out a visual check for damage, pinched areas, loose connections, etc. (examples in Figs. 2 and 3); If no damage is noted replace the N135 - Steering wheel electronics (LRE) and reassess. If fault code returns replace the steering wheel. Please check the wires and connections in the steering wheel. Afterwards, please check whether the complaint is caused by over torqued screws on steering wheel trim pieces. To do this, please loosen the screws slightly and reevaluate the situation. (Picture 4). P164456: Perform SCN coding. P1CA000: Perform an initial start-up on the N179 hand detection control unit. If no fault code is stored in the hand detection control unit, the fault codes in the driver assistance systems control unit are precautionary messages. Software for the N62/4 - Driver assistance system (SG-FAS) is in preparation to reduce erroneous messages in the driver display. |
