Service bulletins for the 2022 Mazda MX-5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SA-075-222022-12-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal MGSS diagnosis by asking if any aftermarket devices have been installed. Aftermarket devices may be the cause of the electrical concern. Below are a few examples of unusual electrical concerns caused by aftermarket devices. Examples: 1. Devices connected to the DLC-2 (battery discharge/DTC stored) 2. Cell phone charger/accessory in 12V socket (engine no start or unable to turn off) 3. GPS tracking device (engine no start/battery discharge) 4. Dash cam (DTC stored) 5. Non-certified USB cable (Apple Carplay™/ Android Auto™ will not connect) 6. Over-sized wheels/tires (incorrect GPS location)

This is caused by a failure in the ambient temperature sensor. To correct this issue, the ambient temperature sensor has been modified.

There is no need to replace the entire infotainment display unit as the supply chain has been heavily impacted due to the global shortage of semiconductors. The system performance has been improved as follows: Ver. 74.00.324 fixes these software errors (bugs): * If the shift lever is operated quickly while displaying the CarPlayTM screen, the rear view screen may not return to the CarPlayTM screen. * When the gear position is shifted into P from R, the screen may not return to the previous condition before shifting into the R position.
02-004-22a2022-12-02. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Some customers may complain of signs of oil on the struts or shock absorbers. 09-041-222022-11-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. If the right-side Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) control module is replaced for any reason, it is also necessary to replace the left-side BSM control module in order to complete the radar aiming procedure. If the right-side BSM control module is replaced alone, "Automatic Configuration" and "BSM Radar Aiming" cannot be completed due to a programming error in the module. Other possible symptoms that may be found if the right-side BSM module is replaced alone: * BSM aiming fails * "BSM OFF" indicator ON * Center Display warning message * BSM failsafe (No operation) * DTC U3000:54 stored in memory * DTC U1A4B:54 stored in memory (CX-3, MX-5 only)

Some customers may complain that the front passenger seat belt warning light flashes and the seat belt warning beep is activated, even though there is no occupant in the front passenger seat. When a passenger seat occupant sits with a load on the front side for a long time with the seat warmer on, the occupancy sensor becomes dented and sensitive. As a result, the sensor determines that there is an occupant in the front passenger seat even though the seat is empty.
