Service bulletins for the 2021 Mazda Mazda3
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 09-001/22 | 2022-02-04. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may experience white-streak stains appearing on the front door that look like they seeped out from under the outer mirror base. This is caused by water intruding from gaps of the outer mirror body and/or the hinge of the outer mirror, and corrosion occurring on the aluminum die-cast inner base in the outer mirror. Water, including white-salty corrosion, may drip out from gaps under the outer mirror base resulting in white stains on the front door. |

| 09-039-21-3807 | 2022-01-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Door Outer Handle Touch Sensor Does Not Lock And/Or Unlock: Some customers may experience one or both of the following symptoms while locking and unlocking the doors works fine using the remote transmitter. Symptom 1: The touch sensor of the front door outer handle does not lock the doors after rain and/or car washing, even though unlocking is possible. Symptom 2: The touch sensor of the front door outer handle does not unlock the doors. Cause 1 (for Symptom 1): Water may accumulate around the touch sensor in the outer handle, resulting in temporary lower sensitivity of the capacitive sensor. Also, if car wash foam gets inside the outer handle while washing the vehicle, the foam may disturb the touch sensor detection. Mazda is still working on a mass production change for this concern. Cause 2 (for Symptom 2): Improper soldering in the production process may disturb the touch sensor detection. To eliminate this concern, the production process has been modified. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. |
| 09-038-21-3855 | 2022-01-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Rear Outer Door Handle Fails To Return Due To Water Freezing In The Handle: Some vehicles may exhibit the rear outer handle remains pulled out and does not return when the rear outer handle is operated in freezing temperatures. This is caused by the accumulation of snow on the rear outer handle melting and dripping water on the sliding part of the lever. When the water freezes due to decreased temperature and the handle is operated, peeled ice gets caught between the outer handle case and the slide, causing the return failure. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the rear outer handle has been changed to prevent the accumulation of water on the sliding part of the lever. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. |
| 09-019-21-3813a | 2022-01-06. Service bulletin. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM; STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT. Fuel Filler Lid Panel Is Deformed: Some vehicles may exhibit a deformed fuel-filler lid panel (1) attached to the fuel-filler lid box, resulting in a poor appearance. This concern is caused by the lid box not having enough water drainage capability which leads to the accumulation of water inside it. The water then freezes in cold weather and expands or the inner side of the lid panel absorbs the water and swells from long exposure, deforming the lid panel. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the fuel-filler lid box has been modified to have better drainage capability and a modified fuel-filler lid panel service part has been established for less water absorbance. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. |
| DRW42 | 2021-10-02. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. DRW42 - DEALER REWORK POTENTIAL HAIL DAMAGE CONCERN: Action Required: There are currently 914 vehicles in dealer inventory or arriving soon that must be inspected as soon as possible. The affected dealer inventory will be posted to MGSS on Tuesday, September 7 and VIN’s will show “Open” the same day. Only the potentially affected vehicles will display DRW42 in eMDCS Warranty Vehicle Inquiry; however, some vehicles were inspected at the port with no damage noted. This DRW must be performed before the vehicle is sold and is a requirement for a New Car Ready Claim. The warranty claim for this DRW should be entered as soon as possible, but the vehicle can be sold as long as the repair is completed. The warranty claim can be entered at a later date but no more than 7 days per warranty policy. The VIN list including dealer inventory, Repair Procedures and Warranty information will be posted on Mazda Global Service Support (MGSS) by end of day September 8, 2021. MNAO reminds dealers that you are responsible for ensuring that you are in full compliance with any applicable pre-sale damage disclosure laws that may exist in your state. |
| 09-026-21-3817 | 2021-10-02. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR; EQUIPMENT. |
| 09-020-21-3804 | 2021-08-02. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit water leaking into the passenger compartment from the rear door through the bottom of the service hole behind the rear door trim during rain or when washing the vehicle. This is caused by one of the following: Since the material of the seal rubber is not resistant to surfactants, the rubber deteriorates when the vehicle is washed and allows water to penetrate into the seal rubber of the service hole cover. The lower tabs of the service hole cover may not have been completely engaged at the factory. To eliminate this concern, the service-hole cover has been modified. NOTE: It is a tentative change. |
| 09-018-21-3796 | 2021-06-29. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit that the liftgate interferes with the rear bumper when closed forcefully, resulting in damaged paint on the rear bumper. Due to variations of the clearance between the liftgate and the rear bumper, the bottom edge of the liftgate may overrun the rear bumper. To correct this concern, the following steps have been taken: Phase 1 - The hardness of stop rubbers on the liftgate has been modified for VINS greater than JM1BP*****300045 (produced after June 16, 2020). Phase 2 - A cushioning pad has been added to the hollow part in the liftgate weatherstrip (in addition to Phase 1 modification) for VINS greater than JM1BP*****313227 (produced after October 2, 2020) |
| DRW38 | 2021-04-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT. DRW38 - RESIDUE OR STAIN BY WRAPGUARD ON BELTLINE - On the subject vehicles shipped from MC on January 8, 2021, added wrap guard was temporarily attached on the beltline molding (both left and right) to protect the beltline molding from misty seawater (for rust prevention). The wrap guard was to be removed prior to shipment. The affected vehicles need to have the wrap guard removed and then inspect the beltline molding for any signs of adhesive residue or possible rust spots. |
| SA-006-21 | 2021-02-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY. The protective films are attached on new vehicles when shipped from the factory in order to avoid being scratched during transportation and while in dealer stock. |
| 09-005-21-3762 | 2021-02-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some customers may complain about water in the trunk compartment after a car wash or heavy rain. This may be caused by insufficient sealing performance of the trunk lid weatherstrip because the lip of the weatherstrip leans towards the inside of the trunk compartment (improper design). To correct this concern, the shape of the trunk lid weatherstrip has been modified. |
| 09-004-21-3772 | 2021-02-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may experience stains appearing on the hood, roof and/or trunk of the vehicle. This concern is most likely to be found in a cold weather areas just after the RAPGARD is removed at PDI. This may be caused by moisture which has been trapped and condensed between the paint and the RAPGARD. These types of stains can be removed with a heat gun or an infrared drier. |
