Service bulletins for the 2020 Mazda Mazda3
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| MT-001-22 | 2022-03-04. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER; STRUCTURE. Some customers may report concerns with interior upholstery surface stains particularly on high contact areas (e.g.: steering wheel, door panels, shifter...etc.). This may be caused by skin oils or chemicals such as hand lotions. Use a clean towel damped in leather/vinyl cleaner or mild soap to clean the steering wheel. NOTE: Upholstery maintenance and care information can also be found in the Owner's Manual. |

| 09-001/22 | 2022-02-04. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may experience white-streak stains appearing on the front door that look like they seeped out from under the outer mirror base. This is caused by water intruding from gaps of the outer mirror body and/or the hinge of the outer mirror, and corrosion occurring on the aluminum die-cast inner base in the outer mirror. Water, including white-salty corrosion, may drip out from gaps under the outer mirror base resulting in white stains on the front door. |
| 09-039-21-3807 | 2022-01-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Door Outer Handle Touch Sensor Does Not Lock And/Or Unlock: Some customers may experience one or both of the following symptoms while locking and unlocking the doors works fine using the remote transmitter. Symptom 1: The touch sensor of the front door outer handle does not lock the doors after rain and/or car washing, even though unlocking is possible. Symptom 2: The touch sensor of the front door outer handle does not unlock the doors. Cause 1 (for Symptom 1): Water may accumulate around the touch sensor in the outer handle, resulting in temporary lower sensitivity of the capacitive sensor. Also, if car wash foam gets inside the outer handle while washing the vehicle, the foam may disturb the touch sensor detection. Mazda is still working on a mass production change for this concern. Cause 2 (for Symptom 2): Improper soldering in the production process may disturb the touch sensor detection. To eliminate this concern, the production process has been modified. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. |
| 09-038-21-3855 | 2022-01-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Rear Outer Door Handle Fails To Return Due To Water Freezing In The Handle: Some vehicles may exhibit the rear outer handle remains pulled out and does not return when the rear outer handle is operated in freezing temperatures. This is caused by the accumulation of snow on the rear outer handle melting and dripping water on the sliding part of the lever. When the water freezes due to decreased temperature and the handle is operated, peeled ice gets caught between the outer handle case and the slide, causing the return failure. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the rear outer handle has been changed to prevent the accumulation of water on the sliding part of the lever. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. |
| 09-019-21-3813a | 2022-01-06. Service bulletin. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM; STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT. Fuel Filler Lid Panel Is Deformed: Some vehicles may exhibit a deformed fuel-filler lid panel (1) attached to the fuel-filler lid box, resulting in a poor appearance. This concern is caused by the lid box not having enough water drainage capability which leads to the accumulation of water inside it. The water then freezes in cold weather and expands or the inner side of the lid panel absorbs the water and swells from long exposure, deforming the lid panel. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the fuel-filler lid box has been modified to have better drainage capability and a modified fuel-filler lid panel service part has been established for less water absorbance. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. |
| 09-026-21-3817 | 2021-10-02. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR; EQUIPMENT. |
| 09-020-21-3804 | 2021-08-02. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit water leaking into the passenger compartment from the rear door through the bottom of the service hole behind the rear door trim during rain or when washing the vehicle. This is caused by one of the following: Since the material of the seal rubber is not resistant to surfactants, the rubber deteriorates when the vehicle is washed and allows water to penetrate into the seal rubber of the service hole cover. The lower tabs of the service hole cover may not have been completely engaged at the factory. To eliminate this concern, the service-hole cover has been modified. NOTE: It is a tentative change. |
| 09-018-21-3796 | 2021-06-29. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit that the liftgate interferes with the rear bumper when closed forcefully, resulting in damaged paint on the rear bumper. Due to variations of the clearance between the liftgate and the rear bumper, the bottom edge of the liftgate may overrun the rear bumper. To correct this concern, the following steps have been taken: Phase 1 - The hardness of stop rubbers on the liftgate has been modified for VINS greater than JM1BP*****300045 (produced after June 16, 2020). Phase 2 - A cushioning pad has been added to the hollow part in the liftgate weatherstrip (in addition to Phase 1 modification) for VINS greater than JM1BP*****313227 (produced after October 2, 2020) |
| 09-007-21-3751 | 2021-04-26. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit that the glass run channel of the front door interferes with the rear door garnish. Since the front door glass run channel is not fixed to the door strongly enough for the following situations, cycles of door operation may result in interference and lead to damage on the seal rubber at the rear door. When the front door glass is closed, the glass run channel may be forced to move to the B pillar side. In very hot climates, the glass run channel may expand to the B pillar side. |
| SA-018-21 | 2021-03-03. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR. Some customers or technicians (during PDI) may have concerns with the front doors sticking (especially on hot days) and/or poor appearance, fitment, alignment or gaps with the front and rear door sash molding. These concerns may be related to the door sash molding interference between the front and rear doors. |
| 09-007-21-3751 | 2021-03-03. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:INTERIOR PANELS:DOOR. Some vehicles may exhibit that the glass run channel of the front door interferes with the rear door garnish.Since the front door glass run channel is not fixed to the door strongly enough for the following situations, cycles of door operation may result in interference and lead to damage on the seal rubber at the rear door. |
| SA-001-21 | 2021-02-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Refer to the Repair Procedure when installing the trunk weatherstrip for guidance, otherwise water may enter the trunk during heavy rain or when going through a car wash if it is not installed properly. |
| 09-005-21-3762 | 2021-02-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some customers may complain about water in the trunk compartment after a car wash or heavy rain. This may be caused by insufficient sealing performance of the trunk lid weatherstrip because the lip of the weatherstrip leans towards the inside of the trunk compartment (improper design). To correct this concern, the shape of the trunk lid weatherstrip has been modified. |
| 09-004-21-3772 | 2021-02-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may experience stains appearing on the hood, roof and/or trunk of the vehicle. This concern is most likely to be found in a cold weather areas just after the RAPGARD is removed at PDI. This may be caused by moisture which has been trapped and condensed between the paint and the RAPGARD. These types of stains can be removed with a heat gun or an infrared drier. |

| DRW27 | 2019-11-21. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY; VISIBILITY; EQUIPMENT. On certain subject vehicles, it is possible that the chrome plated window moldings may be dirty or have rust spots. The subject vehicles were parked outside when Typhoon No.17 passed through Hiroshima and Hofu, Japan, and might have been exposed to misty seawater caused by a heavy wind. The sampling inspection revealed that the chrome plated window moldings of certain vehicles became rusty due to seawater mist. All of the potentially affected vehicles have been rinsed with fresh water prior to shipment. OUTLINE OF REPAIR: If the vehicle has a port hangtag with direction to repair a chrome molding, but does not show DRW27 in eMDCS Warranty Vehicle Inquiry, please contact Dealer Recall Help on MXConnect > Warranty. Look for a hangtag placed in the vehicle by the port. If one is found and the vehicle displays DRW27 in eMDCS, inspect the affected molding(s) and perform a secondary cleaning with polishing compound. If any rust or pitting is still present, replace that affected molding(s) with new parts(s). |
