A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 01-011-17-3364 | 2017-10-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. If a customer brings their vehicles in with DTC P2183:00 stored, repair the vehicle using the following Repair Procedure and Caution. P2183:00: ECT sensor No.2 circuit range/performance problem. This is caused by the ECT sensor No.2 located near the bottom of the radiator getting wet and water entering the part due to insufficient water resistance. To correct this issue, the water resistance of the ECT sensor No.2 has been improved. |
| 09018173351 | 2017-09-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Some customers may complain that the ambient temperature display is not accurate, or it takes too long for the display to show actual temperature. When you encounter a customer with this concern, first verify the condition when the customer noticed this symptom. If the condition is similar to the following "CONTROL LOGIC OF AMBIENT TEMPERATURE" or "DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TEMPERATURE DISPLAY AND OTHERS", advise the customer that this is a normal characteristic of the vehicle and not a malfunction. If the condition does not meet the following and the sensor malfunction is suspected, make sure to inspect the sensor according to MGSSonline or Workshop Manual (section 09-22 AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION). Replace the sensor only when it fails the Workshop Manual inspection. |
| 09017173346 | 2017-09-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct a Special Service Program (SSP) on certain 2014-2015 Mazda3 vehicles, equipped with MAZDA CONNECTTM System. This SSP98 supersedes MSP41 and Service Bulletins 09-034/13 and 09-006/14. The latest version of software for the Connectivity Master Unit (CMU) is now available. By updating the CMU software, the features and functionality of the MAZDA CONNECTTM system will be further enhanced. Dealers are to reprogram the CMU software using a USB memory stick to incorporate further improvements in the MAZDA CONNECTTM system. The reprogramming operation must be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner. |
| SSPA3 | 2017-09-14. Service bulletin. TIRES:TEMPORARY/EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE. Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct a Special Service Program (SSP) on certain 2015-2016 Mazda3 vehicles built from January 5, 2015 through October 9, 2015. On certain subject vehicles, the air pressure of the spare tire may be lower than the specification. Dealers are to check the spare tire air pressure, and adjust the air pressure as necessary. The spare tire air pressure check and adjustment must be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner. NOTE: Spare tire inflation pressure check is included in PDI procedures. This campaign expires March 1, 2017. |
| SSPA2 | 2017-09-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM. Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct a Special Service Program (SSP) on certain 2014-2016 Mazda3 vehicles built at the Mexico plant from December 4, 2013 through September 23, 2015. On certain subject Mazda3 vehicles, the concentration of engine coolant filled at the plant may not be appropriate, which could reduce the cooling or heating performance. With the deterioration of cooling performance, the coolant temperature may increase at high engine load, and a warning light (high engine coolant temperature warning light) may flash or illuminate, resulting in the engine possibly overheating. Dealers are to check the concentration of engine coolant, and replace the coolant if necessary. The check and repair must be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner. This campaign expires March 1, 2017. |
| MT-010-17 | 2017-08-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Some customers may claim that it is impossible or difficult to view the Active Driving Display, even if the position of the display is adjusted through the Settings screen. This is caused by an incorrectly learned zero-point (closed position) of the Active Driving Display. The main reason this happens is because an object (e.g. gloves, paper, etc. ) was placed in the storage area where the mirror and optical receiver are housed. If an object is detected (i.e., jammed) when the Active Driving Display closes after switching the ignition OFF, the system determines this as abnormal and stops the closing operation, leaving the Active Driving Display in an open position. When the engine is started the next time, correction of the zero-point is automatically performed. If the object is still in the storage area during the correction, the system learns the incorrect position as the zero-point. As a result, the zero-point position largely deviates from the standard position; therefore, it becomes impossible to view the Active Driving Display from the normal view position. |
| SA-046-17 | 2017-08-25. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. An update to the MAZDA CONNECT system is now available for download from the Mazda Global Service Support (MGSS) system. With the use of SPECMO's services, a Mazda dealer can get the odometer setting updated to reflect the correct mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs, therefore resulting in a higher level of customer satisfaction. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. When the engine is started for the first time after parking overnight in cold weather (below freezing), some vehicles may exhibit the check engine light on with DTC P0451:00 (Fuel tank pressure sensor: sensor characteristic malfunction) stored in memory. This concern may be caused by an increase in discharge resistance due to water accumulated and frozen in the canister vent hose. |
| 02-005-17-3013g | 2017-08-10. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION; SUSPENSION:FRONT:SHOCK ABSORBER; STEERING. Some vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following noises from the front suspension. A squeaking noise from the front shock absorber when turning the steering wheel at a vehicle standstill caused by stick-slip between the front strut bearing and the coil spring. A popping noise from the front shock absorber when passing over speed bumps caused by the bump stopper contacting the strut bearing when the shock absorber is compressed. A creaking noise from the lower arm when driving over road bumps at 20-40 km/h caused by stick-slip of the front lower arm bushing. The noise occurs when the road surface is wet or after a car washing, and becomes more noticeable as the speed bump gets higher. To correct these problems, the following changes have been made. For the squeaking and popping noise, the shape of the bump stopper has been modified and a protector has been installed onto the coil spring. For the creaking noise, the friction of the lower arm bushing has been reduced by adding a dry coating. |
