| 01-017-18-3518 | 2018-10-09. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some customers may experience a check engine light on and DTC P0401:00 stored in memory without any drivability issues. P0401:00 - [PCM] EGR flow insufficient detected. This concern may be caused by the detection logic for the DTC is too sensitive. To eliminate this concern, the control logic of the PCM has been modified. |
| 01-016-18-3522 | 2018-10-09. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. On some vehicles, a sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor may be noticed coming from the exhaust system. The odor is usually noticed after a cold start, fast idle, extended periods of idling and full throttle acceleration. Sulfur smell is not an indication of an engine concern and will not cause reduced driveability or durability of the engine or any of its emission components. The sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor is caused by high amounts of sulfur in the gasoline being used in the vehicle. Sulfur is normally eliminated during the refining process, but the EPA regulation of sulfur in gasoline differs from state to state. Vehicles using fuel containing high amounts of sulfur will most likely emit sulfur smell from the exhaust system. When high sulfur fuel is burned, there is a chemical reaction in the catalytic converter causing the sulfur to oxidize. As the vehicle is driven, the oxidizing reaction odor in the converter will decrease with mileage and age. |

| 09-034-18-3430 | 2018-09-10. Service bulletin. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer's responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometer and related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the "Speedometer Replacement Label". Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda's vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO's services, it is possible that the odometer will be set between 10 to 31 miles over the odometer mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs. Please make sure that the customer is aware that there may be a slight variance to the odometer, in which case the customer may have to accept the slightly higher mileage. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after-warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense. |
| 01-001-18-3419a | 2018-09-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE; PARKING BRAKE:DRIVELINE:HYDRAULIC:ACTUATOR. After parking the vehicle at temperatures below the freezing, some customers may experience a lack of power with the check engine light on and DTC P0638:00 and/or P2112:00 stored in memory. - P0638:00: Throttle valve actuator control range/performance problem (one drive cycle DTC) - P2112:00: Throttle valve actuator motor current range/performance problem (one drive cycle DTC) This concern may be caused by condensed water in the intake manifold entering the throttle valve. After parking at temperatures below freezing, the throttle valve may be frozen at the stand-by position, resulting in the symptom. To prevent this concern, the control logic of the PCM has been modified to avoid frozen the throttle valve (by moving the valve at a certain time after the ignition has been turned off). NOTE: With this modification, the main relay may stay on up to 90 minutes after the ignition switch is turned off. "BATTERY INSPECTION" in the Workshop Manual will be modified to properly check the battery parasitic draw after this modification. |

The combination of warning lights mentioned by the customer may include: SCBS/SBS LAS/LDWS HBC Master Warning Light Instrument Cluster Multi-Information Display (if equipped) warning messages may include: Forward Smart City Brake Support Malfunction. Smart Brake System Malfunction. Front Camera Sensor System Malfunction. MAZDA CONNECT center display warning messages may include: High Beam Control [HBC] / Lane-keep Assist System [LAS] Malfunction. Have the vehicle checked by a dealer if this indicator stays on. Smart City Brake Support [SCBS] Malfunction. Have the vehicle checked by a dealer immediately. Note: The center display Warning Messages are only displayed when the customer selects Applications>Vehicle Status Monitor>Warning Guidance>Warnings. This condition may be caused by the FSC not being durable enough in high temperatures. [Earlier production Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3 and CX-5 until summer 2017] The warning lights may stay on and these functions are deactivated until the ignition switch is turned off. Both U3000:98 (FSC) and U3000:04 (FSC) are stored. U3000:04 - Forward sensing camera (FSC) internal malfunction. If only U3000:04 (FSC) is stored, this TSB does not apply. This condition may be caused by FSC control logic that is too sensitive. When the FSC detects DTC U3000:98 during high temperature, it stops the internal communication and stores DTC U3000:04. DTC U3000:04 will not clear and SCBS/SBS, LAS/LDWS, and/or HBC functions will not resume until the ignition switch has been turned OFF even if the temperature of the FSC cools. |
