Some customers may complain about: • Intermittent engine no start • Instrument cluster red security indicator light ON • Engine Start/Start Button Amber indicator light flashing • Battery discharge • Electrical relay buzzing noise • DTC B13D3:94 (Communication error with remote transmitter) stored. This may be caused by: • A key in a purse near a cell phone. The cell phone radio waves may interrupt the immobilizer system. • An aftermarket cell phone charger. The charger may produce electrical noise that interrupts the immobilizer system. • An aftermarket GPS tracker. Some aftermarket devices that are wired to the vehicles’s wiring harness may create unusual electrical symptoms. |
| SA-049-19 | 2019-11-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may complain about a Mazda Mobile Start (MMS) system malfunction. Use the information below to troubleshoot the customers complaint: • MAZDA MOBILE START (MMS) TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE • CANNOT COMMUNICATE WITH VEHICLE • ERROR MESSAGE INSTALLED ON ANDROID DEVICES • COMMUNICATION ERRORS • MMS CHECK MODE - Use to verify system operation (see below). |
| 01-017-19-3601 | 2019-11-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT. Some customers may complain about a vibration through the driver and passenger seats at idle in (D)rive and (R)everse when the engine rpm drops down to 550. This vibration is caused by: 1.5L The No.3 and No.4 engine mount rubber hardening during vehicle usage at high ambient temperatures which decreases the damping force. 2.0L Components of the No.3 engine mount rubber melting inside the mount at high ambient temperatures which creates deposits on the engine mount plate that restrict engine mount plate movement. Mass production change has not been determined at this time, but modified No.3 and No.4 engine mounts have been newly established as service parts. Their material and spring characteristic have been changed. |
| 07-007-19-3638 | 2019-11-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. Some customers may complain about poor heater performance even after the engine reaches normal operating temperature. This may be caused by a plugged heater core. For 2014-2016 Mazda6 and 2013-2016 (US spec) / 2017 (Mexico spec) CX-5, the CHECK ENGINE light may turn on with DTC P011A:00 (ECT sensor No.1/No.2 performance problem) stored at the same time. NOTE: Refer to TSB 01-015/15 if the customer is using a block heater at temperatures below freezing. To solve this concern, two mass production changes have been implemented. a) The concentration of the coolant has been increased so that the amount of the contained anti-rust additive is higher. b) The composition of the coolant has been changed (the ratio of the anti-rust additive has increased). |
| MT-003-19 | 2019-10-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain about high engine oil consumption. Before attempting any repairs, verify the complaint by using the guideline below to determine if an engine repair is necessary: |
| MT-002-19 | 2019-10-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE. If an engine assembly is replaced after a catastrophic internal mechanical failure, clean the intake manifold internally before installing a replacement engine assembly. If the intake manifold is not cleaned properly, the replacement engine may fail prematurely. Metallic debris from the old engine (with catastrophic internal mechanical failure) may rest inside the intake manifold. When the new engine assembly is installed, debris in the intake manifold will be ingested into the new engine and cause internal damage. |
| SA-040-19 | 2019-09-23. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain of a lack of power under heavy load without any warning lights or DTCs. This concern may be due to a loose or detached hood weatherstrip, which can cause a blockage or restriction in the air intake system. |
| 01-016-19-3627 | 2019-08-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may experience a rough idle with the check engine light on and DTC P0015 / P0524 stored in memory. P0015:00 - Exhaust CMP timing over-retarded. P0524:00 - Engine oil pressure too low. This is caused by a drop in engine oil pressure due to a piece of foreign object stuck on the oil pump pressure relief valve or oil control valve (OCV). The temporary entry of the foreign object triggers a check engine light on, but rough idle will not be produced until a later time. |
| 01-010-19-3582a | 2019-05-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may experience a lack of power and the check engine light on with DTC P61B:00 stored in the PCM memory when driving in high temperatures at high elevations. DTC P061B:00 - [PCM] Internal control module torque calculation performance problem This concern may be caused by improper PCM control logic. The engine torque calculation error may increase in high temperatures at high elevations. To eliminate this concern, the PCM software has been modified. |
| 01-010-19-3582 | 2019-03-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ENGINE. Some vehicles may experience a lack of power and the check engine light on with DTC P61B:00 stored in the PCM memory when driving in high temperatures at high elevations. DTC P061B:00 - [PCM] Internal control module torque calculation performance problem. This concern may be caused by improper PCM control logic. The engine torque calculation error may increase in high temperatures at high elevations. To eliminate this concern, the PCM software has been modified. |

| 01-007-19-3541 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE. When the engine is started for the first time after parking the vehicle overnight in cold conditions (below 32 degrees Fahrenheit / 0 degrees Celsius), some vehicles may exhibit a rough idle and/or the check engine light on with any of the following DTC(s) stored in memory. P0300 - Random misfire detected P0301 - Cylinder No. 1 misfire detected P0302 - Cylinder No. 2 misfire detected P0303 - Cylinder No. 3 misfire detected P0304 - Cylinder No.4 misfire detected. This may be caused by frozen water accumulated in the main silencer, restricting exhaust flow. |
| 01-005-19-3548 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may exhibit the check engine light on with DTC P0456 stored in the PCM memory. P0456: EVAP system leak detected (very small leak). The concern is most likely the result of the customer not getting the fuel cap completely closed after fueling the vehicle. This causes a small fuel vapor leak and turns DTC P0456 on. |
| 01-004-19-3558 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. On some vehicles, a sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor may be noticed coming from the exhaust system. The odor is usually noticed after a cold start, fast idle, extended periods of idling and full throttle acceleration. Sulfur smell is not an indication of an engine concern and will not cause reduced driveability or durability of the engine or any of its emission components. The sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor is caused by high amounts of sulfur in the gasoline being used in the vehicle. Sulfur is normally eliminated during the refining process, but the EPA regulation of sulfur in gasoline differs from state to state. Vehicles using fuel containing high amounts of sulfur will most likely emit sulfur smell from the exhaust system. When high sulfur fuel is burned, there is a chemical reaction in the catalytic converter causing the sulfur tooxidize. As the vehicle is driven, the oxidizing reaction odor in the converter will decrease with mileage and age. |
| 01-003-19-3557 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some vehicles may experience the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON with DTC P2610 and P2507 stored inmemory after engine start and room fuse 15A (A) removed. P2610:00: Instrument cluster internal engine off timer performance problem P2507:00: PCM battery voltage low input As a past malfunction, the customer will not notice it (no warning light illuminated), but the DTC may be found during a vehicle service. P2507 in this situation is only applicable on 2016 and later models. This is caused by the engine being started 3 or more times after a short duration of engine off (less than 15 seconds) with the room fused removed. NOTE: The odometer will display "F0-002" during transport mode (room fuse 15A removed). Transport mode is canceled when room fuse 15A is installed or the vehicle odometer is more than 12.4mi (20km). Vehicles in dealer inventory with this concern should be repaired using the following repair procedure. |
| MT-009-18 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. If an oil pressure inspection is needed on a SKYACTIV-G engine, use the Special Service Tool (SST) set shown below and refer to the instructions on MGSS online: CX-3: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0] ), MX-3: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0] ), Mazda6: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5] ), Mazda3: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] ), CX-5: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION)] ). If the Special Service Tool (SST) set above is not available at your dealership, an aftermarket Engine Oil Pressure Gauge can be used along with a locally sourced Oil Pressure Switch Adapter, like the one shown below. |
| 01-022-18-3528a | 2018-12-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. Some vehicles may exhibit an excessive body vibration/unusual noise when idling or driving after parking inextremely cold temperatures (-25°C/-13°F). NOTE: This excessive vibration does not occur if the engine mount rubber No.1 is over -25°C/-13°F. This may be caused by the No. 1 engine mount rubber hardening under extremely cold temperatures due to inappropriate characteristic of the engine mount rubber. To eliminate this concern, the material of the No.1 engine mount rubber has been changed to increase the damping force under extremely cold temperatures. |
| MT-009-18 | 2018-12-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. If an oil pressure inspection is needed on a SKYACTIV-G engine, use the Special Service Tool (SST) set shown below and refer to the instructions on MGSS online: CX-3: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0] ), MX-3: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0] ), Mazda6: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5] ), Mazda3: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] ), CX-5: (OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION)] ). | 09-037-18-3534a | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. Some vehicles equipped with MAZDA CONNECT may exhibit the following oil maintenance monitor concerns on the center display: The wrench light (Oil Change Due message) cannot be cleared using MAZDA CONNECT/Applications/Vehicle Status Monitor/Maintenance reset menu. The wrench light (Oil Change Due message) is displayed before the oil change is due. Vehicles with multi-information display Vehicles without multi-information display This is caused by only one reset procedure being performed when the oil is changed, usually using the center display. Two reset procedures are required, one is using the trip meter switch to reset the powertrain control module (PCM) and the other is using the center display to reset the connectivity master unit (CMU). To correct this issue, the CMU software has been modified so that the oil maintenance monitor reset operation on the center display resets both the CMU and the PCM at the same time. With this change, there set operation using the trip meter switch is now unnecessary. |
| 01-021-18-3514a | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some vehicles may experience a lack of power and the check engine light on with DTC P61B:00 stored in the PCM memory when driving in high temperatures at high elevations.
