Service bulletins for the 2016 Mazda CX-3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

09-034-18-34302018-09-10. Service bulletin. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer's responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometer and related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the "Speedometer Replacement Label". Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda's vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO's services, it is possible that the odometer will be set between 10 to 31 miles over the odometer mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs. Please make sure that the customer is aware that there may be a slight variance to the odometer, in which case the customer may have to accept the slightly higher mileage. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after-warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.
09-031-18-34892018-09-10. Service bulletin. LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION. If it becomes necessary to replace the right-side Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) control module, the configuration may fail even though the Workshop Manual procedure was performed properly. This may occur when the existing BSM control module has a hand written suffix on the label. Example: Applicable BSM control module part number DB2R-67-Y80B, where the suffix ("B") is handwritten on the module label: This concern is caused by the wrong suffix being written on the label with an older software version. To eliminate this concern, the production process has been changed.
03-002-18-35052018-09-10. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT. Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the right front driveshaft at the transaxle when driving. This concern is likely to occur when driving at speeds between 37-50 mph (60-80 km/h) with the ATF at normal operating temperature. The noise is caused by stick/slip between the oil seal at the transaxle and the dust cover of the driveshaft. To correct this issue, the thickness of the dust cover has been increased.

MT-004-182018-08-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. ELECTRICAL CONCERN AND/OR MULTIPLE DTC'S DUE TO AFTERMARKET DEVICE: If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal Workshop Manual diagnosis. 01-014-18-34872018-08-20. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some customer using "Flexible" setting for Oil Change in the maintenance monitor may notice that the oil change due notification will not work due to improper control logic of the PCM. The PCM clears the TRAVELED DISTANCE at the wrong time while the ELAPSED DAYS and the DETERIORATION DETERMINATION work as designed. To correct this issue, the control logic of the PCM has been changed. This TSB is applicable for the following cases. The oil change due notification does not come on, even after mileage exceeded 10,000 miles. Oil life in the center display is still less than 40% even though the mileage exceeded 7,000 miles. To display "Flexible" setting and "Oil life" on the center screen, select the "Applications" screen, "Maintenance", then "Oil Change" tab. For complete details, refer to the the instructions on MGSS (MAINTENANCE MONITOR OPERATION PROCEDURE).

Unauthorized customization software will not work on the latest version of MAZDA CONNECT software. The latest version of MAZDA CONNECT software cannot be rolled back to an earlier version. Mazda does not recommend unauthorized customization of MAZDA CONNECT due to the possibility of unexpected problems. Any issues related to this will not be covered under Mazda warranty policy.

If a vehicle is driven on extremely short trips most of the time (where the engine never reaches normal operating temperature), the engine oil may become diluted with fuel and the engine oil level will increase. Engine oil dilution with fuel occurring under this specific driving condition is normal with direct injection engines. If the vehicle is driven on a longer trip after a lot of short trips (where the engine reaches normal operating temperature), the Check Engine Light may turn ON with DTC P0172:00 (Fuel system too rich).

This service bulletin illustrates the conditions when a TPMS warning light may illuminate, why it illuminated and how to properly initialize the system. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) monitors the tire pressure of all four tires indirectly using the data sent from the ABS wheel speed sensors. If the air pressure of one or more tires is too low compared with the specified value (the initial value learned by the system), the system warns the driver with the TPMS warning light in the instrument cluster and a beep sound. To allow the TPMS to operate correctly, it is essential that the TPMS be initialized to learn new conditions whenever a tire related service is performed.
