Affected vehicles may experience an illuminated malfunction indicator light (MIL) accompanied with DTC P2B59F0 which can set while driving. There are no drivability issues related to this DTC.

This bulletin provides information to replace the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Assembly on certain 2024MY Kia vehicles listed in the table below. Kia has become aware that the EGR Valve Assembly in the subject vehicles may not have been manufactured to Kia’s specifications. This condition may cause the vehicle to release air pollutants which exceed Federal and California standards. As a result, the subject vehicles may exhibit an illumination of Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) with DTC(s) P040500, P064200 and/or P065200.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: VOLUNTARY EMISSIONS SERVICE CAMPAIGN: ENGINE INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT (SC315) - This bulletin provides information to inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine sub assembly on certain 2024MY Sportage P/HEV vehicles produced from January 26, 2024 to February 5, 2024. The engine block in the affected vehicles may contain a porous area in the casting which can cause a coolant leak. Over time, if the vehicle continues to operate with low coolant, the driver may experience an ‘Engine Overheat’ warning message displayed on the instrument cluster. Also, an engine that overheats may cause the vehicle to release air pollutants which exceed Federal and California standards. These standards were established to protect the public health and welfare from the dangers of air pollution.

The subject vehicles may have been assembled with a fuel injector harness that can cause a poor electrical terminal connection. A poor connection can cause uneven fuel delivery to the engine, affecting engine performance and emissions.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: DATA COLLECTION: EXTRACT CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS DATA FROM ECU (DC24) - This bulletin provides information related to extracting "in use performance tracking" emissions data from the Engine Control Unit (ECU) of certain vehicles sold in California. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) requires the emissions data from vehicles with a minimum of 3,000 accumulated miles without reprogramming or resetting. To facilitate collection of this data at the dealer level, KDS screenshots will allow the capture of relevant parameters. Note that a “Web Based” KDS IUMPR Data Collection procedure is outlined.
