The cause may be a small coolant leak in the EGR Cooler. Locating this leak may be difficult.

PITSTOP: NO START / NO DTC WITH KEY IGNITION - This Pitstop provides information to help troubleshoot a "no start" symptom on some 2017-2022MY Niro LX HEV (DE HEV) vehicles with standard 'key start' ignition. The 'Ready' icon on the instrument cluster will not illuminate 'ON'. The issue happens when the Hybrid Power Control Unit (HPCU) does not unlock the immobilizer when the start signal is sent.

PITSTOP: ENGINE OVERHEATING IN NIRO HEV/PHEV - This Pitstop provides information to help troubleshoot an overheating symptom on some 2017-2022MY Niro HEV (DE HEV) and 2018-2022MY Niro PHEV (DE PHEV) which may exhibit coolant boiling in the reservoir. Overheating may occur due to a bypass valve in the Exhaust Heat Recovery System (EHRS) stuck in the closed position.

PITSTOP: NIRO EV (DE EV) COOLANT COLORS - This Pitstop provides information regarding the two (2) types of coolant used in 2019MY Niro (DE EV) vehicles. One is the common coolant colored GREEN (also used for combustion engine models) and the other is the EV (low-conductivity) coolant colored BLUE. The 19MY Niro EV vehicle may be equipped with either one of these coolant color types and is normal for this vehicle application. The 20MY will have only the BLUE coolant. DO NOT mix the two types of coolants together, or switch the coolant type originally used in the system of the applicable EV vehicle.
PS6472020-03-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. PITSTOP: ENGINE ELECTRIC WATER PUMP (EWP) CONNECTOR AND PIGTAIL ISSUES FOR DTC U045600 - This Pitstop provides information regarding DTC U045600 on some 2017-2020MY Niro (P/HEV) vehicles, which may set due to the EWP and/or harness connectors (C102) being contaminated with coolant. In the event that this DTC is set, throughly inspect the EWP and harness connectors which are located behind the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS) and are sometimes difficult to see.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: HEV/PHEV P0128 LOGIC IMPROVEMENT - This bulletin provides the procedure to improve the logic of the Engine Control Module (ECU) on some 2017-2019MY Niro (DE HEV/PHEV) vehicles, produced from November 1, 2016 through November 25, 2019 and equipped with Kappa 1.6 GDI engine, regarding DTC (P0128) judgement logic. To correct this concern, apply the improved logic to the ECU using the KDS ECU Upgrade function as described in this bulletin.

Follow the MDPS Flowchart (page 2) along with the MDPS DTC Table (page 3) procedure outlined in this bulletin before replacing the C-MDPS Motor, ECU or Steering Column Housing.
