The cause may be a small coolant leak in the EGR Cooler. Locating this leak may be difficult.

PITSTOP: NO START / NO DTC WITH KEY IGNITION - This Pitstop provides information to help troubleshoot a "no start" symptom on some 2017-2022MY Niro LX HEV (DE HEV) vehicles with standard 'key start' ignition. The 'Ready' icon on the instrument cluster will not illuminate 'ON'. The issue happens when the Hybrid Power Control Unit (HPCU) does not unlock the immobilizer when the start signal is sent.

PITSTOP: ENGINE OVERHEATING IN NIRO HEV/PHEV - This Pitstop provides information to help troubleshoot an overheating symptom on some 2017-2022MY Niro HEV (DE HEV) and 2018-2022MY Niro PHEV (DE PHEV) which may exhibit coolant boiling in the reservoir. Overheating may occur due to a bypass valve in the Exhaust Heat Recovery System (EHRS) stuck in the closed position.

The described condition does not cause the engine to stall.

PITSTOP: ENGINE ELECTRIC WATER PUMP (EWP) CONNECTOR AND PIGTAIL ISSUES FOR DTC U045600 - This Pitstop provides information regarding DTC U045600 on some 2017-2020MY Niro (P/HEV) vehicles, which may set due to the EWP and/or harness connectors (C102) being contaminated with coolant. In the event that this DTC is set, throughly inspect the EWP and harness connectors which are located behind the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS) and are sometimes difficult to see.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: HEV/PHEV P0128 LOGIC IMPROVEMENT - This bulletin provides the procedure to improve the logic of the Engine Control Module (ECU) on some 2017-2019MY Niro (DE HEV/PHEV) vehicles, produced from November 1, 2016 through November 25, 2019 and equipped with Kappa 1.6 GDI engine, regarding DTC (P0128) judgement logic. To correct this concern, apply the improved logic to the ECU using the KDS ECU Upgrade function as described in this bulletin.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: PARTIAL REPAIR OF C-MDPS MOTOR, ECU AND/OR STEERING COLUMN HOUSING - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information.This bulletin provides information regarding the partial repair of the Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) Motor, Electronic Control Unit (ECU) or Steering Column Housing on some 2010MY~ Kia models listed on page 5 equipped with a Column Motor Driven Power Steering (C-MDPS) unit. Follow the MDPS Flowchart (page 2) along with the MDPS DTC Table (page 3) procedure outlined in this bulletin before replacing the C-MDPS Motor, ECU or Steering Column Housing.
PS5932019-04-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL. PITSTOP: MIL ON WITH DTC U029F00 - Some 2017-2019MY Niro (DE HEV) vehicles may have a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illumination with DTC U029F00 (Lost Communication with Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Control Module ) active. Prior to following the standard diagnostic steps for the DTC as outlined in KGIS, on vehicles built before October 2018, the NVLD signal wire needs to be checked for insulation and/or core damage.
PS5542018-05-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. PITSTOP - DTC?S P0A0F AND P040400 AND/OR IMPROPER A/C OPERATION - When addressing a concern related to DTC?s P0A0F (Engine failed to start), P040400 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Range/Performance), and/or improper A/C system operation, note that the cause may be related to a shorted A/C Pressure Transducer Wiring Harness (B) as a result of interference with the engine drive belt idler pulley, in vehicles produced prior to August 21, 2017. If this condition is found, the harness (A) should be repaired, re-routed and secured away from the pulley to prevent it from damage. Confirm all related components are functioning as designed.

TSB: DATA COLLECTION: EXTRACT CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS DATA FROM ECU (DC17) - This bulletin provides information related to extracting ?in use performance tracking? emissions data from the Engine Control Unit (ECU) of certain vehicles sold in California. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) requires the emissions data from vehicles with a minimum of 3,000 accumulated miles without reprogramming or resetting. To facilitate collection of this data at the dealer level, KDS screenshots will allow the capture of relevant parameters.
