Built 2003-11-03 to 2004-06-14. |
| 04V356000 | 2004-07-15. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS. CERTAIN TRUCKS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 120, 'TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES OTHER THAN PASSENGER CARS.' THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS OMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE'S CERTIFICATION LABEL. Built 2004-06-24 to 2004-06-28. |
| 04V174000 | 2004-04-12. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING. CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH EATON FULLER ULTRASONIC TRANSMISSIONS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 102, "TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER SEQUENCE, STARTER INTERLOCK AND TRANSMISSION BRAKING EFFECT." THE CAB TRANSMISSION HARNESS COULD HAVE BEEN INCORRECTLY WIRED DURING PRODUCTION INSTALLATION. Built 2003-02-05 to 2004-01-13. |
| 2009314 | 2009-10-29. Brakes. Certain vehicles may suffer cracking of various brake assembly components (i.e. brake cam tube mounting flanges, brake air chamber bracket, brake air chamber, brake spider). Over time, this cracking can cause a complete fracture of the cam tube, which could increase stopping distances and decrease parking brake hold capability. A reduction of braking capability could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect the rear axle brake assembly, replace cracked rear axle brake components where required, and install cam tube support brackets on all rear axle wheel ends. |
|---|---|
| 2009247 | 2009-08-19. Engine. On certain vehicles equipped with a Caterpillar C15 engine, the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) oil line may wear against the P-clip retaining the oil line. An oil leak could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Caterpillar dealers will replace the VVA oil line with an updated version. |
| 2008358 | 2008-10-01. Suspension. Certain vehicle configuration which includes an AG400 rear suspension, long stroke brake chambers, and wide base tires may develop an increase in lateral and vertical axle movement. This movement may cause part or parts of the brake assembly to develop fatigue cracks, possibly resulting in the failure of part or parts within the brake assembly. A failure may reduce vehicle brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash causing personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will affect repairs. |
| 2007112 | 2007-04-10. Powertrain. On certain trucks, the wiring, parts, or transmission programming required for the auto neutral feature to function as designed were either not installed, connected, or programmed properly. If any of these conditions exists, the transmission will not automatically shift into Neutral when left in Drive with the parking brake engaged. The vehicle could move without warning increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if needed, make the necessary repairs. |
| 2005402 | 2005-12-22. Engine. On certain vehicles equipped with a Caterpillar engine, the Variable Valve Actuation oil line (VVA line) used on 6 cylinder, 15L turbocharged and air-to-air aftercooled diesel engines may wear against the sharp edge of the cylinder head if not oriented correctly. Oil line wear may cause an oil leak and a potential fire hazard. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the VVA line. |
| 2005127 | 2005-04-29. Suspension. On certain vehicles, the rear suspension transverse beam castings were not made to specifications. If a casting were to break when the vehicle is in motion, parts could become projectiles with potential to cause property damage, personal injury or death. Also, the transverse beam may drop down low enough to contact the road surface causing sparks that could ignite a fire. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transverse beams. |
| 2005069 | 2005-03-24. Heater And Defroster. On certain vehicles, burner tubes in the Webasto DBW 2010 Scholastic coolant heater may begin deteriorating at an accelerated rate and could fail. Burner tube failure could result in an increase in exhaust gas temperature which could ignite combustible material in or around the vehicle. Correction: Dealers will replace the burner tubes. |
| 2004379 | 2004-10-25. Structure. On certain vehicles, the huck bolts used in the cab sub-assembly involving the door aperture and rear cab pillar was not properly installed. Under extreme loading conditions which could be encountered during an accident, that portion of the cab structure could be compromised. Correction: Dealers will inspect the cab and replace any loose huck bolts found. |
| 2004332 | 2004-09-14. Powertrain. On certain vehicles, the U-joint fasteners at the output yoke of the transmission were not properly torqued during assembly. If the U-joints were to become loose, a portion of the driveline could become detached from the vehicle and fall out from under the vehicle, which could cause a crash. Correction: Dealers will verify the torque and/or retorque each of the U-joint fasteners. |
| 2004260 | 2004-07-21. Electrical. On certain vehicles, a potential chaffing point may exist between a heat shield on the engine and the wiring for the alternator. The interference is only present with the combination of a Caterpillar C11/C13 engine and the optional Leece Neville brushless alternator which is longer than any other alternators installed by Kenworth. Correction: Dealers will replace the alternator to a brush-type alternator that is shorter in length and provides the necessary clearance to all surrounding components. |
| 2004247 | 2004-07-15. Label. Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 120. The vehicle tire pressure was omitted from the certification label. Correction: Dealers will install correct labels. |
