A small number of vehicles may have a coolant inlet pipe that may present an obstructed threaded hole for the coolant temp sensor which could result in the check engine light coming on or a potential coolant leak. Dealers are to replace the coolant inlet pipe and temperature sensor.

This Preliminary information communicates that a dealer may encounter a vehicle that is making a grinding or growling noise on the first few brake applications after the vehicle has been sitting overnight. The dealer is instructed to perform no repairs at this time as engineering is looking into a repair. The dealer is advised that this PI will be converted into a bulletin with repair instruction when updated parts are available.

If the technician finds a code P2B87 (auxiliary coolant pump underspeed) set in the ECM they are directed to not replace the G17 heater coolant pump because this will not fix the concern. The techician is instructed to clear the code and release the vehicle to the customer with the explanation that an updated calibration will be released in the future to address the code setting.

Also Inspect the HVAC drain hose is properly routed and not plugged.
