Service bulletins for the 2020 Ford Transit
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SSM 49283 | 2020-11-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Some 2017-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a telematics control unit (TCU) may exhibit incomplete user authorization, inoperative remote features and/or a message stating the system cannot access the Lincoln/FordPass Connect feature in the application due to being a fleet vehicle. Replacing the TCU will not resolve this condition. Engineering is currently investigating this condition. Inform customers Ford is developing a software fix that is expected in early January. In the interim, let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment with the customer for early January. Once the update becomes available, contact the customer and confirm the service appointment is going forward. Monitor OASIS for updates. |

| SSM 49242 | 2020-11-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Some 2020 Transit vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with all of the following diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the powertrain control module (PCM): P2804, P2803, P0713, P0710, P0709, and P0708. This article only applies if all of these DTCs are present. Prior to any diagnosis, inspect connectors C1551, C1280, C1281, and C1520 for partial connections, damage, or pushed out pins and repair as necessary. If a fault is not identified during the inspections of the connectors, continue diagnosis using the appropriate WSM Sections. |
| SSM 49167 | 2020-10-06. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2020 Transit vehicles may exhibit an open master fuse in the high current battery junction box. The master fuses are now available as a separate service part and can be replaced without replacing the high current battery junction box or wiring harness. Tighten M8 nuts to 12 +/- 1.8 Nm (106 +/- 16 lb-in). Tighten M5 nuts to 5.4 +/- .9 Nm (48 +/- 8 lb-in). |
| SSM 49085 | 2020-09-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. Some 2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a TCU may exhibit incomplete user authorization, no authorization pop-up on the SYNC infotainment system, vehicle connectivity concerns, vehicle location disabled message and/or various FordPass/LincolnWay App command/control concerns. To correct these conditions, ensure that customer connectivity settings (CCS) are turned on in the SYNC system. If the concerns persist after CCS is turned on, turn CCS OFF, perform an ignition cycle, and turn CCS settings back on. After any CCS changes, force-close and relaunch the FordPass/ LincolnWay app on the customers phone. Once CCS is turned on, program the TCU to the latest IDS/FDRS version level. If the concern is still present, follow normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 415-00. Refer to PTS OASIS home page for TCU version identification. For claiming, use causal part 14G229. |
| SSM 49129 | 2020-09-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:FLUID/LUBRICANT; EQUIPMENT. Some 2020 Transit vehicles built on or before 12-Feb-2020 may exhibit a transmission fluid leak at the transmission fluid cooler. When replacing the transmission fluid cooler, also replace the transmission fluid cooler bracket. Perform the adjustment procedure when reattaching the selector lever cable. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-05. Clear the transmission adaptive tables and perform an Adaptive Learning Drive Cycle using the appropriate scan tool. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01. Advise the customer that this vehicle is equipped with an adaptive transmission shift strategy. When the adaptive strategy is reset, the computer will begin a relearning process. This process may result in firmer than normal upshifts and downshifts for several days and will improve over time. |
| SSM 49033 | 2020-08-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; BACK OVER PREVENTION. Some 2020 F150/Nautilus/Expedition/Transit/Edge/Escape/Mustang vehicles built on or before 21-Jun-2020 may exhibit various front and/or rear parking aid camera concerns such as poor image quality, flickering and/or completely inoperative. If a vehicle exhibits this condition, replace the affected camera(s). Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 41313. For claiming, use causal part 19G490 and any applicable labor operations in Section 11 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 48908 | 2020-07-07. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2016-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a SYNC 3 Touchscreen may experience the volume control unresponsive from the Front Control Interface Module (FCIM) and steering volume controls when using Apple Car Play. When the Apple device is removed, volume control is restored. This is due to a concern with the Waze Navigation App software and Apple iOS version. To correct the condition, update the Waze App software and iOS to the latest version available and reboot the customer's Apple device. Perform an ignition cycle and reconnect the Apple device via USB. Open Apple Car Play and confirm volume control is restored. Installing/Updating third party software/applications is not warrantable. |
| SSM 48864 | 2020-07-07. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM). | 20B21 | 2020-07-06. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT. In all of the affected vehicles, there are shallow pressed valve seats in the cylinder heads. This may lead to a rough idle, engine misfires with a reduction in power/torque, and a check engine/wrench light illuminated. |
| TSB 20-2185 | 2020-07-06. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:SHIFT PATTERN INDICATOR; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. This may be due to sticking valves in the main control valve body. Most vehicles will improve and no longer exhibit the condition after the first 160 km (100 mi) of driving. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the main control valve body and/or perform drive procedure. |
