Service bulletins for the 2017 Ford Transit

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

217 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

SSM 469232018-01-29. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2015-2017 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.5L or 3.7l gasoline engine may exhibit an engine overheat condition or poor A/C cooling due to one or more of the 3 cooling fan fuses being open. If any one of the Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuses F30, F31, or F8 are open, replace F8 from a 20 amp to a 30 amp fuse (6E5Z-14526-BA), and service the F30 and F31 40 amp fuses (6E5Z-14526-CA) as needed. The wiring diagram has been updated. Failure to replace an open F8 with a 30amp fuse will cause F30 and F31 to open over time. Claim using causal part 9K499 if no other root cause is identified. Use applicable labor ops from section 10 of the SLTS manual for fuse replacement.
SSM 469032018-01-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. When replacing a 2015-2018 Transit 3.2L Duratorq-TDCi engine assembly or block, two new transmission locator dowel pins (W703519 or W718670) must be installed. This information is available in Workshop Manual, Section 303-01C. The parts catalog also specifies to order the dowels when ordering an engine. Failure to install dowels pins will prevent proper engine to transmission alignment resulting in a cracked flexplate and/or crankshaft position sensor damage. Per Warranty and Policy, damage resulting from an incomplete or improper repair is not warrantable.
SSM 468892017-12-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some 2015-2018 Transit vehicles may have unique accessory drive noise characteristics. Engineering review of warranty returned belt tensioners has not identified an out of specification part, nor have abnormal sounds been recreated during on-vehicle evaluations with warranty returned tensioners. Before attempting a repair for an accessory drive system noise, compare the sound to a like Transit vehicle in similar RPM and temperature conditions. If the sound is not characteristic, use chassis ears to help isolate the source of the noise. If tensioner replacement is deemed necessary, use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the vehicle's OASIS screen and submit a detailed Global Concern Report highlighting the specific conditions when the noise was observed.
SSM 468242017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. Some 2013-2017 F-Super Duty/2015-2017 Transit/2016-2017 F650-750 vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may exhibit DTC P207F and/or P20EE (Reductant Quality Performance) in the powertrain control module (PCM). When repairing DTC P207F or P20EE, refer to the online version of the powertrain control/emission diagnostic (PC/ED) manual for the latest diagnostics. The pinpoint test RD and diagnostic trouble code chart have been updated in section 4 and 5 for DTC P207F and P20EE.
SSM 467062017-08-25. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some 2013-2016 F-Super Duty/2015-2017 Transit/2016-2017 F650-750 vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may exhibit DTC P207F and/or P20EE (Reductant Quality Performance) in the powertrain control module (PCM). When repairing DTC P207F or P20EE, refer to the online version of the powertrain control/emission diagnostic (PC/ED) manual for the latest diagnostics. The pinpoint test RD and diagnostic trouble code chart have been updated in section 4 and 5 for DTC P207F.
SSM 460852017-08-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:CATALYTIC CONVERTOR; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR VALVE); ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:OTHER FUEL TYPES:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:HOSES/LINES/PIPING/FITTINGS; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:RADIATOR ASSEMBLY; ENGINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:CRANKCASE (PCV); ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:BELTS AND ASSOCIATED PULLEYS; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN. The Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual has been revised for diagnosing electronic throttle bodies (ETBs). The ETC_ACT and ETC_DSD PIDs should not used to diagnose possible ETB concerns. The IDS has a limited refresh rate when reading these PIDs and cannot display quickly enough to validate a concern. The PCM automatically monitors these inputs more accurately and will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when appropriate. Using these PIDs for diagnostics will lead to inaccurate results and improper ETB replacements. If a concern is intermittent and no DTCs are present, refer to historical DTCs and the PC/ED, Section 3 No DTCs Present Index chart for further information.
SSM 464132017-03-20. Service bulletin. ENGINE. SOME 2015-2017 TRANSIT VEHICLES BUILT ON OR BEFORE 17-OCT-2016, EQUIPPED WITH A 3.2L ENGINE, AND WITH LOW TIME IN SERVICE (LESS THAN 8,000 KM (5,000 MILES)) MAY EXHIBIT AN OIL LEAK FROM AREAS SUCH AS THE CRANKSHAFT FRONT SEAL, CRANKSHAFT REAR SEAL, OR FUEL INJECTION PUMP DRIVE ACCESS COVER. THESE EARLY OIL LEAKS MAY BE CAUSED BY HIGH CRANKCASE PRESSURE DUE TO AN IMPROPERLY MOLDED OIL SEPARATOR IN THE VALVE COVER. IN ADDITION TO REPAIRING THE OIL LEAK, INSTALL A NEW VALVE COVER. FOR CLAIMING, USE CAUSAL PART 6K271 AND APPLICABLE LABOR OPERATIONS IN SECTION 06 OF THE SERVICE LABOR TIME STANDARDS (SLTS) MANUAL.
SSM 463902017-03-20. Service bulletin. ENGINE. SOME 2015-2017 TRANSIT VEHICLES MAY HAVE UNIQUE ACCESSORY DRIVE NOISE CHARACTERISTICS.
SSM 462952017-03-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE. TO HELP DIFFERENTIATE ENGINE OIL LEAKS FROM OTHER POSSIBLE SOURCES, A NEW WHITE-COLORED FLUORESCENT ENGINE OIL DYE IS AVAILABLE. WORKSHOP MANUAL (WSM), SECTION 303-00 HAS BEEN REVISED TO REFERENCE THE NEW WHITE-COLORED DYE. THE NEW WHITE FLUORESCENT DYE PROVIDES A DISTINCT WHITE GLOW TO IDENTIFY ENGINE OIL LEAKS. THE NEW WHITE FLUORESCENT DYE REQUIRES A PURE UV DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION LAMP. THE WHITE-COLORED FLUORESCENT DYE AND PURE UV LAMP ARE NOW IN THE ROTUNDA CATALOG. DYE AND LAMP PART NUMBERS. GASOLINE ONLY DYE: 1 OUNCE BOTTLE 164-TP-33200601. DIESEL ONLY DYE: 8 OUNCE BOTTLE: 164-TP-3320-0008. PURE UV DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION LAMP 164-TP8695 OR 164-R3748.
TSB 17-00092017-03-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE. SOME 2016-2017 TRANSIT VEHICLES WITH LOW MILEAGE EQUIPPED WITH A 3.2L ENGINE AND BUILT ON OR BEFORE 13-NOV-2016 MAY EXHIBIT AN ILLUMINATED MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) AND DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P24A5 AT A LOW TIME IN SERVICE APPROXIMATELY 8,000 KM (5,000 MILES) WITH OR WITHOUT P2457. THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING BUILT WITH AN EGR COOLER THAT IS NOT CORRECT FOR THE VEHICLE. FOLLOW THE SERVICE PROCEDURE STEPS TO CORRECT THE CONDITION.
SSM 459792017-02-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE. 2015-2017 - F-SUPER DUTY, F-650/750 WITH 6.7L DIESEL AND 2015-2017 TRANSIT - 3.2L DIESEL EQUIPPED VEHICLES USE A SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCTION (SCR) SYSTEM DESIGNED TO REDUCE THE VEHICLES EXHAUST EMISSIONS. THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) TANK IS FILLED TO SPECIFICATION AT THE ASSEMBLY PLANT. DEALERS ARE NOT INSTRUCTED TO CHECK OR TOP OFF THE DEF FLUID ON THE PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI) SERVICE RECORD (CHECK SHEET) AND ARE THEREFORE NOT AUTHORIZED TO TOP-OFF THE TANKS DURING PDI. THE VEHICLE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MESSAGE CENTER IS DESIGNED TO INDICATE WHEN THE DEF IS LOW (EXHAUST FLUID LOW OR EXHAUST FLUID EMPTY). THE SCR SYSTEM SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR REPAIR AT PDI ONLY IF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MESSAGE CENTER INDICATES THAT THERE IS DEF SYSTEM FAULT OR LOW FLUID LEVEL.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
