TSB18-20932018-05-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2015-2018 Focus ST vehicles may exhibit a misfire condition and/or illuminated MIL with DTCs P0300 and/or P0316 with engine coolant temperature below 49°C (120°F). Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SSM 469072018-01-29. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2015-2018 Focus ST vehicles may exhibit MIL On with DTC's P0300 and/or P0316 store in Powertrain Control Module(PCM) memory. Vehicle may also exhibit perceived misfire after cold start until Engine Coolant Temperature(ECT) reaches 49 degrees C (120 degrees F) Install (4) new CYFS-12-YEC spark plugs and set plug gap to 1.0mm(0.040). Use ROTUNDA RTTP tool KDT165 or equivalent to gap and adjust the plugs before installing. For Drivability concerns Refer to Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual. Engineering is currently investigating this concern. To assist with the investigation use the Report A Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the Oasis report and submit a Global Concern Report (GCR). Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.
SSM 468162017-10-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE. 2017 vehicles equipped with a 2.0L GTDI, 2.3L GTDI, or 2.5L PFI engine will either be equipped with a diamond washer on each side of a smooth-faced crankshaft timing sprocket (early build), or a crankshaft timing sprocket with laser etched faces and no diamond washers (late build). If equipped, diamond washers should be cleaned, inspected and reused, if undamaged. Diamond washers should never be installed along with a laser etched crankshaft timing sprocket. SSM 468142017-10-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some 2014-2017 Focus ST vehicles equipped with a 2.0L gasoline turbocharged direct injection (GTDI) engine may exhibit an audible engine idle ticking noise at normal operating temperature. This is considered a normal operating characteristic and no repair should be attempted.
SSM 467052017-08-25. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some 2017 Model Year Focus vehicles equipped with 1.0L gasoline turbocharged direct injection(GTDI) engines may exhibit illuminated malfunction indicator light(MIL) with DTC P04DB (crankcase ventilation system disconnected) stored in powertrain control module(PCM) memory. Inspect positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube assembly for O-Ring damage or partial disconnect. PCV tube connects to air induction system(AIS) and camshaft cover port. PCV tube assembly also includes crankcase pressure sensor(Reference 303-14 electronic engine controls). Engineering is currently investigating. To assist with the investigation, refer to the Professional Technician Society (PTS) website and use the report a vehicle concern link at the bottom of the OASIS report.

The Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual has been revised for diagnosing electronic throttle bodies (ETBs). The ETC_ACT and ETC_DSD PIDs should not used to diagnose possible ETB concerns. The IDS has a limited refresh rate when reading these PIDs and cannot display quickly enough to validate a concern. The PCM automatically monitors these inputs more accurately and will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when appropriate. Using these PIDs for diagnostics will lead to inaccurate results and improper ETB replacements. If a concern is intermittent and no DTCs are present, refer to historical DTCs and the PC/ED, Section 3 No DTCs Present Index chart for further information.
SSM 465492017-08-01. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE. Some 2017 Focus vehicles equipped with 1.0L Gasoline Turbo Direct Injection (GTDI) engines built on 27-Feb-2017 and through 12-Apr-2017 may exhibit excessive engine idle vibrations. Inspect the engine torque restrictor installed part numbers. Automatic transmission equipped vehicles, should have BV61-6P082-CB installed. Manual transmission vehicles should have CV61-6P082-DC installed. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-08 for remove instructions. For claiming, use causal part 6068 and applicable labor operations in section 06-Engine of the service labor time standards (SLTS) manual.
SSM 465392017-08-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE; EQUIPMENT. Some 2015-2017 Focus ST vehicles may exhibit MIL On with a perceived Misfire after cold start. Diagnostic Trouble Codes DTC's) may include P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303,P0304, and P0316. Refer to General Service Bulletin GSB) G0000106 to confirm Historical DTCs no longer confirmed or pending, but have set at least once since the last time DTCs were cleared. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01 and Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnostics. SOME 2016-2017 FOCUS RS VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.3L GASOLINE TURBOCHARGED DIRECT INJECTION (GTDI) ENGINE AND BUILT ON OR BEFORE 10-DEC-2016 MAY EXHIBIT AN ILLUMINATED MIL WITH DTCS P0456, P1450 AND/OR P144A. WORKSHOP MANUAL (WSM), SECTION 303-00 HAS BEEN REVISED TO REFERENCE THE NEW WHITE-COLORED DYE. THE NEW WHITE FLUORESCENT DYE PROVIDES A DISTINCT WHITE GLOW TO IDENTIFY ENGINE OIL LEAKS.
