Service bulletins for the 2016 Ford F-450

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

21N062021-09-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This program extends the warranty coverage of the catalytic converter portion of the selective catalyst reduction (SCR) system for twelve months of service, beginning on the date the powertrain control module (PCM) is reprogrammed under Emissions Recall 21E01. This program only applies if an SCR (converter) fault is detected and it is related to a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P20EE identified after 21E01 has been performed. This is a one-time repair.
21N022021-09-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This program extends the coverage of the front nitrogen oxides (NOx) sensor for twelve months of service, beginning on the date the powertrain control module (PCM) is reprogrammed under emissions recall 21E01. This program oly applies if a front NOx sensor fault is detected and it is related to a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2201 identified after 21 E01 has bee performed.
SSM 500662021-09-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2015-2019 F-Super Duty and 2016-2019 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an oil leak from the oil filter, crankcase vent oil separator, oil cooler, upper/lower oil pan. This may be due to a clogged crankcase vent oil separator and/or a sealing concern. Do not remove/replace the engine front cover for upper oil pan leaks. Do not check for warpage on the upper oil pan. When the upper oil pan is not bolted to the vehicle, it has a natural tendency to twist slightly due to the manufacturing process for the pan and will not result in an oil leak. The Workshop Manual (Section 303-00 > Diagnosis and Testing > Engine > Engine Oil Leaks) provides information on the usage of fluorescent oil dye to locate the source of an oil leak. Refer to GSB Oil Leaks Weeps And Seeps for more oil leak diagnosis. Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.
SSM 498442021-07-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2016 F-Super Duty/F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine built on or before 15-Feb-2016 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P054F stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be caused by the torque converter one way clutch. To correct the condition, perform the torque converter stall speed test. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 307-01B > Special Testing Procedures > Stall Speed Test. For this specific condition, the line pressure test is not required prior to performing the stall speed test. If engine stall speed does not reach the minimum RPM range specified, replace the torque converter, torque convertor hub seal, and fluid filter. Perform the transmission fluid cooler backflushing and cleaning procedure and refill the fluid. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01B.
TSB 21-21752021-07-01. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2016 MKS, 2016-2017 Navigator, 2016-2018 F-150/Focus/C-MAX/Edge/Fiesta/MKX/Transit Connect/Mustang, 2017-2018 Continental/Fusion/MKZ, 2017-2019 Explorer, 2016-2019 Escape/MKC/Flex/MKT/Taurus/Transit/Expedition/F-Super Duty, and 2018-2019 EcoSport vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may experience various SYNC performance related concerns.
SSM 498052021-06-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:OTHER FUEL TYPES:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2011-2021 vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may have engine oil in the exhaust after turbocharger replacement for various reasons. To correct the condition, remove the exhaust and stand the exhaust up with the turbocharger inlet side facing down using a suitable drain pan. Allow the exhaust to drain for at least 24 hours and reinstall. Do not perform a manual exhaust regeneration.
SSM 497252021-05-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2016 F-Super Duty trucks equipped with a 6.7L engine may have diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04E3 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after reprogramming the PCM software for various reasons. Vehicles built on or after 11-Nov-2015 are not equipped with a crankcase ventilation sensor (CRNKCSVT). This DTC may be caused by incorrect PCM programming. To correct the condition, start a new vehicle session using a computer with IDS that has not been previously connected to the vehicle. On the vehicle specification screen, answer NO when asked if the vehicle is correct. Enter the PCM tear tag and perform PCM software reprogramming. The IDS scan tool will ask to verify the style of the connector on the crankcase vent (CCV) hose. Answering this prompt incorrectly will cause DTC P04E3 to be stored in the PCM.
