To correct the condition, replace the fuel pump and sender assembly with service part HC3Z-9H307-AR for vehicles with 160/164 inch wheelbase and a midship fuel tank, HC3Z-9H307-AQ for vehicles with 142/148 inch wheelbase and a midship fuel tank, and HC3Z-9H307-AS for vehicles with an aft of axle fuel tank. For claiming, use causal part 9H307 and applicable labor operations in Section 08 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 50448 | 2022-02-04. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL. Some 2017-2022 F-Super-Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit a hard start, lack of power and/or runs rough concern with an illuminated malfunction indicator light (MIL) and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0087 and/or P008A. This may be due to low fuel level or fuel gelling in cold ambient temperatures. If no root cause is determined after normal Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test MA, recommend that the customer use a different brand of fuel and use Motorcraft® PM-23-A Diesel Fuel Anti-Gel and Performance Improver. Inform the customer that bio-diesel blended fuels have a higher occurrence of fuel gelling. Fuel gelling and or low fuel conditions causing a P0087 and/or P008A is not covered under warranty. |
| SSM 50380 | 2022-02-04. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty pickup vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine, 175 inch wheelbase, and built on or before 23-Sep-2021 may exhibit a thump/whine/knock noise from the midship fuel tank at idle or during key on, engine off (KOEO) after performing TSB 21-2057. The noise may be more pronounced at fuel levels at or below 1/4 tank. This may be due to the fuel pump. To correct the condition, replace the fuel pump and sender assembly with service part HC3Z-9H307-AP. For claiming, use causal part 9H307 and applicable labor operations in Section 08 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| TSB 21-2309 | 2021-09-30. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Some 2020-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with various fuel system related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). While performing pinpoint test (PPT) M in the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual, the fuel pressure control valve (F_PCV) and/or fuel volume control valve (F_VCV) parameter identifications (PIDs) may not have an option to manually command them with the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. This may be due to the PCM software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM. |
| TSB 21-2058 | 2021-04-03. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Some 2020-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine built on or before 10-Feb-2021 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with various fuel system related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). While performing pinpoint test (PPT) M in the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual, the fuel pressure control valve (F_PCV) and/or fuel volume control valve (F_VCV) parameter identifications (PIDs) may not have an option to manually command them with the scan tool. This may be due to the PCM software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM. |

The noise may be more pronounced at fuel levels at or below 1/4 tank. This may be due to the fuel pump strategy in the powertrain control module (PCM) software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM. |
| 20B41 | 2020-12-05. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT. Certain 2020 Model Year Super Duty and 2021 Model Year Medium Duty Vehicles Equipped with a 6.7L Engine Left Hand Side High Pressure Fuel Rail Replacement. In some of the affected vehicles, the vehicle may have been built with a high pressure fuel rail where the internal fuel orifice may become dislodged. If the fuel orifice becomes dislodged, it can travel down and damage the pressure control valve pintle resulting in a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0088. Before demonstrating or delivering any new in-stock vehicles involved in this program, dealers are to replace the left hand side high pressure fuel rail using the technical instructions, even if DTC P0088 is not present. This service must be performed on all affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner. |
| SSM 49065 | 2020-09-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Some 2011-2020 F-Super Duty, 2015-2019 Transit, 2016-2021 F-650/F-750 and 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L, 3.2L or 3.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P207F, P20EE, P229F, P2201 and/or P24AE. This may be a result of using aftermarket cleaning liquids or tools for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler or intake. Ford does not recommend the cleaning of diesel intakes or EGR coolers using any aftermarket tool that injects a cleaning foam or liquid substance into the EGR cooler or intake. Using these types of fluids can result in sodium poisoning of the NOx and particulate matter (PM) sensors resulting in degraded operation and permanent damage to the after treatment system. Use of these cleaning tools may void the emissions warranty of the hot end after treatment exhaust system and the attached emissions sensors. |
